Performance of ductility and strengthening effect of hybrid fibre reinforced polymer laminates on high strength concrete beams

open access: yesDiscover Materials
Concrete is predominantly utilized in various types of construction, yet it faces challenges in improving its strength and durability. To address these issues, researchers are exploring innovative methods such as the use of FRP composites.

Enhancing flexural behavior and ductility of fixed-end RC beams using high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composites

open access: yesScientific Reports
This paper investigates the effect of High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced Cementitious Composite (HPFRCC) with steel fibers on two fixed-end beams. Eight beams with identical sections were tested: two reference specimens and six reinforced with 1% or 2 ...

Curvature Ductility of High Strength Concrete Beams

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures, 2017
The ductility of reinforced concrete beams is very important, because it is the property that allows structures to dissipate energy under seismic loading, consequently, the brittle fractures of reinforced concrete structures can avoided. In the modern construction of reinforced concrete structures, the high-strength concrete (HSC) is widely used ...

Ductility of Partially Prestressed Concrete Beam

Key Engineering Materials, 2006
Ductility of partially prestressed concrete beams was numerically analyzed. For a given value of reinforcement index, corresponding curvature ductility factors of an unbonded prestressed concrete beam as well as a bonded prestressed concrete beam are analyzed and compared. It is generally observed that, when reinforcement index is between 0.20 and 0.30,

Variation of Ductility Capacity of Steel Beam‐Columns

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1994
This paper presents an investigation on the variation of ductility capacity of steel beam-columns. First, experimental data obtained from previous tests are surveyed, and their ductility ratios are examined. It is found that experimental ductility ratios scatter over a wide range with their coefficients of variation ranging from 0.4 to 0.9.

Sectional Ductility of Wide Beams

5th International Students Science Congress, 2021
Wide beam structures are categorized as Limited Ductility Class in Turkey and elsewhere and considered not fit for construction in areas of high seismicity. One of the main reasons that wide beam structures are considered to possess limited ductility is the perceived low local ductility of the wide beams, due to the high reinforcement ratios.

Ductile Design of Glued-Laminated Timber Beams

Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction, 2009
Ductility is a fundamental component in the design of robust structures. For timber structures, the unfavorable material characteristics pose particular problems to its realization. Two approaches for improving the post-elastic behavior of glued-laminated timber beams have been investigated by testing and numerical analysis.

Impact of finite beams of ductile metal

Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, 1954
Abstract An analysis is here presented of the large plastic deformations of a beam under impact such as that due to a blow of a massive hammer, in which one cross-section is suddenly forced to move with a given velocity. The analysis treats both the case in which the velocity of the struck section is maintained constant until the total permanent ...
