Propagation of Airy-related beams
New types of finite energy Airy beams are proposed. We consider two different types of beams, namely, beams that are obtained as blocked and exponentially attenuated versions of Airy functions Ai and Bi, and beams of finite width but having the Airy functions typical phase.

Statistical Characteristics of a Twisted Anisotropic Gaussian Schell-Model Beam in Turbulent Ocean
The analytical expression of the cross-spectral density function of a twisted anisotropic Gaussian Schell-model (TAGSM) beam transmitting in turbulent ocean is derived by applying a tensor method.

The Propagation Properties of a Lorentz–Gauss Vortex Beam in a Gradient-Index Medium
Based on the Huygens–Fresnel integral and ABCD matrix, the propagation equation for the Lorentz–Gauss vortex beam (LGVB) in a gradient-index medium (GRIN) is rederived.

Steering the propagation of finite-energy Airy beam by spatial phase modulation
The effect of spatial phase modulation on the propagation of finite-energy Airy beam (FEAB) is investigated. A sinusoidal phase is introduced on a FEAB and the propagation behavior is analyzed in Kerr medium by numerical simulation.

In this paper, we use two methods to research the propagation characteristics of a Hypergeometric-Gaussian (HyGG) vortex beam under oceanic turbulence. One is numerical calculation based on the Rytov approximation theory, where the theoretical detection ...

Planar Airy beam light-sheet for two-photon microscopy [PDF]
We demonstrate the first planar Airy light-sheet microscope. Fluorescence light-sheet microscopy has become the method of choice to study large biological samples with cellular or sub-cellular resolution. The propagation-invariant Airy beam enables a ten-

A tool for modeling optical beam propagation
Summary: A tool for modeling the propagation of optical beams is proposed and investigated. Truncated Laguerre-Gauss polynomial series are used for approximation of the field at any point in free space. Aposteriori error estimates in various norms are calculated using errors for input functions.

Rotation of elliptic optical beam in anisotropic media
We investigate the linear propagation of a paraxial optical beam in anisotropic media. We start from the eigenmode solution of the plane wave in the media, then subsequently derive the wave equation for the beam propagating along a general direction ...
