Measuring Planck beams with planets [PDF]
Aims. Accurate measurement of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy requires precise knowledge of the instrument beam. We explore how well the Planck beams will be determined from observations of planets, developing techniques that are also ...

The beam quality parameter of spirally polarized beams [PDF]
Starting from the expression for the quality parameter of a superposition of two general fields, the case of beams that can be written in terms of the polarization basis introduced by Gori is investigated. Different types of this class of beam are studied and compared. In particular, spirally polarized beams are considered.

Method for optimising the performance of PML in anchor‐loss limited model via COMSOL
Perfectly matched layer has been used for solving anchor‐loss limited quality factor in the Micro electromechanical systems. However, setting up a well‐behaved perfectly matched layer requires users to change the parameters of a perfectly matched layer ...

Generalized beam quality factor of aberrated truncated Gaussian laser beams [PDF]
We outline a theory for the calculation of the beam quality factor of an aberrated laser beam. We provide closed-form equations that show that the beam quality factor of an aberrated Gaussian beam depends on all primary aberrations except tilt, defocus, and x-astigmatism.

Resonant Characteristics of Rectangular Microcantilevers Vibrating Torsionally in Viscous Liquid Media [PDF]
The resonant characteristics of rectangular microcantilevers vibrating in the torsional mode in viscous liquid media are investigated. The hydrodynamic load (torque per unit length) on the vibrating beam due to the liquid was first determined using a ...
