Research and development beamline for the BESSY II booster beamline

open access: yes
With the refurbishment completed, the optical beamline delivers all the required diagnostics. This paper reports on their status focusing in particular on the R&D beamline branch. The additional branch is equipped with programable mirror and lens position controllers allowing elaborate optical optimisation.

Beamline 08ID-1, the prime beamline of the Canadian Macromolecular Crystallography Facility

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2011
Beamline 08ID-1 is the prime macromolecular crystallography beamline at the Canadian Light Source. Based on a small-gap in-vacuum undulator, it is designed for challenging projects like small crystals and crystals with large cell dimensions. Beamline 08ID-1, together with a second bending-magnet beamline, constitute the Canadian Macromolecular ...

Beamline 14: a new multipole wiggler beamline for protein crystallography on the SRS

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 1998
A new multipole wiggler device has been designed for the 2.0 GeV Synchrotron Radiation Source at Daresbury Laboratory in the UK. The nine-pole 2.0 T device will provide radiation for two beamlines dedicated to protein crystallography, one of which will be of high intensity.

A distributed data processing scheme based on Hadoop for synchrotron radiation experiments

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation
With the development of synchrotron radiation sources and high-frame-rate detectors, the amount of experimental data collected at synchrotron radiation beamlines has increased exponentially.

Studies of laser-plasma interaction physics with low-density targets for direct-drive inertial confinement schemes

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2019
Comprehensive understanding and possible control of parametric instabilities in the context of inertial confinement fusion (ICF) remains a challenging task.

A Procedure for Beamline Characterization and Tuning in Open-Ended Beamlines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Standard closed-orbit techniques for Twiss parameter measurement are not applicable to the open-ended Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) at Jefferson Lab. The evolution of selected sets of real orbits in the accelerator models the behavior of a “synthetic” beam. This process should provide the distributed optical information needed

Inverting the Beamline

open access: yes, 2021
In many domains of modern physics, we encounter the situation that generations of scientists have created high precision simulations of the effects under study. Today, these simulations have become essential to the scientific method. However, these (often mechanistic) simulations of high predictive power carry with them a burden of inference.

High density ultrashort relativistic positron beam generation by laser-plasma interaction

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
A mechanism of high energy and high density positron beam creation is proposed in ultra-relativistic laser-plasma interaction. Longitudinal electron self-injection into a strong laser field occurs in order to maintain the balance between the ...
