Monte Carlo-based analysis of the photon beam fluence with air gap thickness between Linac head exit window and patient’s skin in radiotherapy treatments [PDF]

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2020
Linear accelerators (Linac) are used in radiation therapy treatment and its technology improvement ensures high dosimetry quality that should be conserved for high radiotherapy efficiency.

Feasibility Study on Applying Radiophotoluminescent Glass Dosimeters for CyberKnife SRS Dose Verification. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
CyberKnife is one of multiple modalities for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). Due to the nature of CyberKnife and the characteristics of SRS, dose evaluation of the CyberKnife procedure is critical.

Monte Carlo study of MLC fields for cobalt therapy machine

open access: yesJournal of Medical Physics, 2014
An automated Multi-Leaf Collimator (MLC) system has been developed as add-on for the cobalt-60 teletherapy machines available in India. The goal of the present computational study is to validate the MLC design using Monte Carlo (MC) modeling.

Adapting a generic BEAMnrc model of the BrainLAB m3 micro-multileaf collimator to simulate a local collimation device [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics in Medicine and Biology, 2010
This work is focussed on developing a commissioning procedure so that a Monte Carlo model, which uses BEAMnrc's standard VARMLC component module, can be adapted to match a specific BrainLAB m3 micro-multileaf collimator (microMLC). A set of measurements are recommended, for use as a reference against which the model can be tested and optimized.

VALIDATION OF A BEAMNRC MONTE CARLO SIMULATION OF A BROAD BEAM DIAGNOSTIC X-RAY UNIT

open access: yesRadiation Protection Dosimetry, 2019
A BEAMnrc Monte Carlo simulation of a diagnostic X-ray unit in a broad beam geometry intended for the derivation of effective linear attenuation coefficients was validated against measurements made on the X-ray unit on which the simulation was based.

A portable graphite calorimeter for onsite reference dosimetry and beam quality correction factor determination

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 26, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Purpose To present a portable, reliable, and fast setup graphite calorimeter for onsite absolute dose measurements at hospitals. Methods We have designed and built a portable graphite calorimeter optimized for fast setup and accurate measurements at clinical centers. Our system has minimum readout and auxiliary electronics and is inserted in a

Evaluation of electron Monte Carlo algorithm accuracy for dose calculations in extended source‐to‐surface distances electron beam therapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 26, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Background Extending the source‐to‐surface distance (SSD) is an effective approach to cover a large irradiation area in electron beam therapy for large planning target volumes (PTVs). However, the accuracy of dose calculations at extended SSDs has not been fully validated.
