Rhomboid prism pair for rotating the plane of parallel light beams [PDF]
An optical system is described for rotating the plane defined by a pair of parallel light beams. In one embodiment a single pair of rhomboid prisms have their respective input faces disposed to receive the respective input beams.

Characterization of vector diffraction-free beams
It is observed that a constant unit vector denoted by $\mathbf I$ is needed to characterize a complete orthonormal set of vector diffraction-free beams. The previously found diffraction-free beams are shown to be included as special cases. The $\mathbf I$

In high energy storage-ring colliders, the nonlinear effect arising from beam-beam interactions is a major source that leads to the emittance growth, the reduction of beam life time, and limits the collider luminosity. In this paper, two models of beam-beam interactions are introduced, which are weak-strong and strong-strong beam-beam interactions.

dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Polarization of tightly focused laser beams
The polarization properties of monochromatic light beams are studied. In contrast to the idealization of an electromagnetic plane wave, finite beams which are everywhere linearly polarized in the same direction do not exist.

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Towards the Future of Supernova Cosmology
For future surveys, spectroscopic follow-up for all supernovae will be extremely difficult. However, one can use light curve fitters, to obtain the probability that an object is a Type Ia.
