Bearing characteristic of journal bearing applied biomimetics

Tribology International, 2020
Abstract Journal bearings have been improved by reducing friction and increasing stability via various methods. However, if future applications require even better performance, a new approach will be required. In this study, we aimed to improve the bearing characteristics of journal bearings by incorporating biomimetics.

Effect of bearing deformation on the characteristics of a slider bearing

Wear, 1982
Abstract An integral equation is presented for the determination of the film thickness in a slider bearing with a deformable surface. First-order corrections to the load capacity and the frictional force due to bearing deformation are derived. A numerical solution is presented for a step slider bearing.

The dynamic characteristics of hydrostatic bearings

Wear, 1993
Abstract The characteristics of hydrostatic bearings have been theoretically studied in terms of the compressibility of the air-contained oil. A formula for the stability criterion of a hydrostatic bearing system and a dynamic stiffness formula have been derived.

Vibrational Characteristics of Ball Bearings

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1977
The classical differential equations of motion of the ball mass center in an angular contact thrust loaded ball bearing are integrated with prescribed initial conditions in order to simulate the natural high frequency vibrational characteristics of the general motion.

Performance Characteristics of Flared Bearings

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1980
The paper offers an analysis of finite journal bearings having an axially variable clearance. Such bearings are encountered either as a consequence of manufacturing errors and wear, or as configurations specifically designed to accommodate journal misalignment. The Reynolds equation is solved for the appropriate boundary conditions and film geometry by

Design and Characteristics of a Superconductor Bearing

IEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 2005
A high-temperature superconductor (HTS) journal bearing was designed for a flywheel energy storage system. A rotor was supported at top and bottom by two HTS bearings. The rotor weight is 4 kg and the length and diameter of shaft were about 300 mm and 40 mm, respectively.

Dynamic characteristics of air bearings

Soviet Applied Mechanics, 1982
1. From the numerical values of vibration frequencies and logarithmic decrements determined with air bearings of various types over a wide range of bearing height and a wide range of air pressure in the bearing cavity under various modes of dynamic load, one can estimate the effect of such bearings as aid for dynamic testing of structures on the ...

Identification of Journal Bearing Characteristics

Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1977
A new approach is proposed to the identification of the eight linearized coefficients which characterize the dynamics of a journal bearing oil-film. The use of pseudo-random binary forcing sequences is described together with cross-correlation and multiple regression analysis.

Characteristics of a hydrostatic thrust bearing

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1962
Summary The static and dynamic behaviour of a hydrostatic thrust bearing has been fully analysed starting from the Navier-Stokes equations for two-dimensional flow. An expression has been derived giving the force exerted by the oil in terms of the variables, amplitude of vibration, thickness of oil film and frequency.

STUDY OF THE VIBRATION CHARACTERISTICS OF BEARINGS

1961
Abstract : Airborne noise and structure borne vibrations of 6310 size bearings were investigated on the bearing vibration tester for bearings with 25 to 100 mm bore. The relationships between amplitude and speed and between airborne noise and structure borne vibrations are shown. Structure borne vibrations and airborne noise measured in absolute units,
