Hair characteristics of four Indian bear species

Science & Justice, 2008
Dorsal guard hairs of four species of bear (family: Ursidae) found in India were characterized using light microscopy by studying features including colour, hair thickness, cuticle pattern, medulla pattern, medullary index, cross-section and scale count index.

Journal bearing friction characteristics.

1927
Friction is one of Nature's paradoxes. It is at once a blessing and a curse to huumanity. Without friction, man would be unable to control his movements and continue his existence; yet, because of its presence, he is using up the greater part of his energies.

Vibration characteristics of a roller bearing with the waviness error

2019 58th Annual Conference of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers of Japan (SICE), 2019
Waviness errors can greatly affect the bearing vibrations. In this paper, a multi-body dynamic model for a roller bearing with the waviness error on its inner and outer raceway is established. A fitted or an actual measured waviness error is considered in the model.

Modal Characteristics Of Asymmetrical Rotor-bearing Systems

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1993
Abstract Modal characteristics of rotors are different from conventional modal characteristics of non-rotating structures. All dynamic characteristics of rotor systems are closely related to rotor rotation, and the modal parameters of rotor systems are also closely related to rotor rotation.

Stern Bearings, Background and Characteristics

Day 1 Wed, September 20, 2000, 2000
Because existing ships cover a range of stern bearing designs, the paper starts with a brief history of the development of stern bearings and an evaluation of existing designs. It then discusses the relative energy losses in different types of bearings and some interesting experiences.

Effect of Bearing Surface Characteristics on Bearing Oil Film Thickness

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1989

The most widely used method of measuring bearing oil film thickness (BOFT) is the “capacitance technique”. It has two implicit assumptions that need to be carefully considered. These are:

(1) <div class ...

Tribological characteristics of needle bearings

1989
A Needle Bearing Test Rig has been constructed which allows the measurement of frictional torque, axial thrust, needle axial skew angle, and needle complement velocity for an applied radial load of up to 3500 N and a speed of up to 7000 rpm. Either shaft rotation or cup rotation can be accommodated.

DYNAMIC INSTABILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF ROLLING ELEMENT BEARINGS

24th International Conference on Sound and Vibration 2017, London Calling
The dynamics of bearing is a classical problem in machinery vibration. It is well known that rolling element bearings are susceptible to large vibration response at suitable parameter values arising due to instability. In the present work, we formulate the governing equations of motion of rolling element bearings.
