Simple modeling of hydrostatic bearings

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
Hydrostatic bearings are a key component for many large telescopes due to their high load bearing capacity, stiffness and low friction. A simple technique is presented to model these bearings to understand the effects of geometry, oil viscosity, flow control, temperature, etc. on the bearings behavior.

Dynamics of the radiation component in soliton-bearing models

Inverse Problems, 1986
The dynamical properties of the radiation component in nonlinear wave equations solvable by the inverse scattering transform are discussed. Radiation packets and their interactions with solitons and the remaining radiation modes are described in terms of scattering data variables.

Electrodynamic Bearings Modeling and Design

2010
The number of high speed applications is sharply increasing in the last years so that the problem of the choice of the most suitable bearing must be handled. Considering the rotating machines, during the past ten years, high speed turbomolecular pumps have been mass produced showing that the high speed technology is mature.
