Defect detection of bearing side face based on sample data augmentation and convolutional neural network

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2023
Bearing surface quality has significant impact on the working performance and durability of the mechanical transmission equipment. The traditional visual detection methods for bearing surface defects face the problems of weak versatility, low efficiency ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

The effects of material combination and surface roughness in lubricated silicon nitride/steel rolling contact fatigue

open access: yes, 2003
Four kinds of commercially finished 12.7 min HIPed silicon nitride bearing balls with surface roughness values R-a ranging from 0.002 to 0.016 mum were tested using a four-ball rolling configuration.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Numerical Analysis of a Journal Bearing with Chemical Roughness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, performances of an oil-lubricated journal bearing are investigated with special attention paid to slip occurrence. The chemical roughness at which slip occurs is introduced.

Enhancing the Tribological Properties of Bearing Surfaces in Hip Arthroplasty by Shot-Peening the Metal Surface

open access: yesLubricants
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a surgical procedure for patients with pain and difficulty walking due to hip osteoarthritis. In primary THA, the acetabulum and femoral head are replaced by a prosthesis where the modular femoral head and inner liner of ...

Effect of Engineered Roughness on the Performance of Journal Bearings Lubricated by Bingham Plastic Fluid Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

open access: yesLubricants, 2022
A journal bearing is a machine element that is used to keep the shaft rotating about its axis. The increasing demand for journal bearing applications in high-speed machines that are efficient and economical has resulted in the need for improvements to ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
