Suspension Characteristics Measurement of a Bearingless Motor

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2009
Bearingless PM motors which have additional suspension windings have been designed with 3D FEM. To verify satisfactions in practical application, a test machine has been built. In this paper, suspension force is measured with the static forces. Two experimental methods are proposed.

Saturation effects in high acceleration bearingless motors

2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2008
Bearingless motors offer contactless levitation and rotation through a hermitically closed process chamber and satisfy the increasing demand for ultra high purity spin processes in chemical, biochemical and semiconductor industry. Most of these processes require a high acceleration capability for minimal process times and a large air gap in order to ...

Structure Design of Bearingless Permanent Magnet Motor

2017 4th International Conference on Information Science and Control Engineering (ICISCE), 2017
The friction and abrasion of the traditional single degree of freedom motor have an impact on the dynamic response of the system. This paper presents bearingless permanent magnet motor structure based on permanent magnetic bearing radial bearing and axial magnetic bearing, the overall structure of the motor is also introduced in the paper.

Optimization Design of Bearingless Synchronous Reluctance Motor

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2018
In order to overcome common drawbacks of the low torque density and power factor for conventional bearingless synchronous reluctance motors (BSynRMs), a novel BSynRM rotor structure with ferrite magnets is designed in this paper. First, the basic structure and operation principle of the BSynRM are introduced, and the mathematical models of torque and ...

Design variants of the bearingless segment motor

SPEEDAM 2010, 2010
Bearingless drives and magnetic bearings allow the construction of contactless, wearless and lubrication-free rotating systems. Utilizing a permanent magnet excited rotor disc permits the passive stabilization of three degrees of freedom (tilting and axial deflection) by reluctance forces. Hence, using these bearingless slice motors it becomes possible

Levitation forces in bearingless permanent magnet motors

IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 1999
Bearingless motors combine brushless AC-motors with active magnetic bearings by the integration of two separate winding systems (torque and radial levitation force windings with different pole pairs) in one housing. This paper gives an insight into the influences of the motor design on the levitation force and torque generation.
