Comparative Study of Gas and Liquid Flow in Packed Beds Using Phase‐Contrast MRI

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This work presents applications of phase‐contrast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate fluid flow fields and temperature in packed beds. Comparison of ethane (C2H6) gas flow with that of water flow is done at similar flow conditions. The temperature of water is also measured using MRI.

Clathrate hydrate crystallization

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Clathrate hydrate crystallization has been an area of interest to chemical engineers from the point of view of crystal structure, thermophysical properties, phase equilibria, kinetics, industrial applications, and environmental (climate change) implications.

Comparison of modelling approaches for liquid fluidized beds

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study presents a comparison of three promising numerical models for the detailed simulation of liquid–solid fluidized bed. These models differ in their treatment of the solid phase, ranging from treating each particle individually to treating the collection of particles as a continuum.

Microwave‐assisted catalytic pyrolysis of textile wastes: Synergistic effects and product characteristics

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines the microwave‐assisted catalytic pyrolysis (MACP) of individual and blended textiles (cotton, polyester, nylon 6) using ZnO and a ZnO/natural zeolite catalyst. In a custom‐built microwave reactor operated at 500°C, 1 kW power, and a 15‐min residence time, textile wastes were pyrolyzed.

Application of artificial neural network and general machine learning modelling on CO2 adsorption in moisture equilibrated South African high and medium rank coals

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates the effect of moisture on CO2 adsorption in South African coals using both experimental and machine learning approaches. Three coal samples (SL, TN, and EM) with varying ranks (RoVmr: 3.49%, 1.26%, and 0.64%, respectively) were collected from different regions of South Africa.

Organising Innovation as a New Commons: Eliciting Perspectives, Practices and Tensions in Multi‐Stakeholder Experimentations

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper explores how innovation is organised as a new commons within place‐based experimental settings characterised by institutional plurality. Drawing on scholarship on commons, commoning, and transformative innovation, we approach innovation as a collectively produced resource whose organisation becomes complex in contexts where market ...
