Modelling pollinator trends using multi‐scale environmental data from the UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 4, October–December 2026.
The UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme (PoMS) generates annual data on insect pollinators from a combination of structured surveys carried out primarily by citizen scientists, covering a wide range of habitats. Our study uses 6 years of PoMS data to produce new metrics of change in abundance and species richness of bees, hoverflies and other pollinator ...

Orchard netting impacts on biodiversity leading to cascading effects at the ecosystem level

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 2448-2466, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Agriculture must ensure food production without further compromising the ecosystem functions upon which it depends. Agricultural practices should therefore avoid harming farmland biodiversity, especially of taxa that supply the key ecosystem services (e.g.

The Future of Native Bees in Australia Under Environmental and Anthropogenic Change

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
Bees are considered one of the most important and abundant pollinators across the globe, yet they are under threat from anthropogenic activities such as land‐clearing, urbanisation, agricultural activities, pesticide use, non‐native flora and fauna introductions, disruption of natural fire regimes, pollution and climate change, among others.

Host plant‐specific volatiles of Beauveria bassiana‐colonized plants initiate trophic plant–aphid–predator cascades

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 9538-9552, October 2026.
Endophytic colonization of melon plants by B. bassiana modifies the crop volatile profiles in a genotype‐dependent manner. A predator choice is biased toward endophytically colonized plants infested with aphids revealing a guardian within effect of the fungus of great potential in integrated pest management.

Identification of broadly expressed nervous system‐related genes as effective RNAi targets in the brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 9870-9878, October 2026.
Broadly expressed genes outperformed brain‐enriched neural targets as RNAi candidates in Halyomorpha halys. Microinjection of dsRNA targeting alpha‐soluble NSF attachment protein (Asnap) or Ras opposite protein (Rop) caused strong feeding suppression and near‐complete mortality, identifying them as promising targets for future oral or spray‐based RNAi ...
