Methane production from beet pulp
Resources, Conservation and Recycling, 1992Abstract The applicability of untreated or alkali treated beet pulp (BP), a waste product of the sugar industry in Egypt, for methane production was examined. The daily methane yields varied in a stochastic manner. The values fluctuated throughout the experiment after an initial increase which occurred in the first 10–15 d. The average composition of

Microbial extraction of beet pulp pectin
Resources, Conservation and Recycling, 1991Abstract Beet pulp (BP), a by product of the sugar industry in Egypt, contains about 51% holocellulose, 24% pectin, and 13% lignin of its dry weight. Different yeasts were tested for their ability to produce protopectin-solubilizing enzymes. Kluyveromyces marxianus was the most active culture from the standpoint of the pectin released (about 14% on ...

A TECHNOLOGY OF RATIONAL BEET PULP USAGE

Enzymatic hydrolysis of sugar beet pulp
Biotechnology Letters, 1984In order to prepare fermentable sugars from cellulosic raw materials, we have tested the effect of different pretreatments (heat, chemicals, pectinase) on enzymatic hydrolysis of sugar beet pulp. Best results (90% hydrolysis) have been obtained after heat treatment (30 mn at 120°C) with 16 IU.Fp.g−1 of fresh pulp in 48 hours.

The use of sugar beet pulp lignin for the production of vanillin
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2017The objectives of this work is to produce vanillin from sugar beet pulp by lignin oxidation and evaluate the effect of process parameters (temperature, partial pressure of oxygen, reaction time, CuSO4 as a catalyst) on the yield of vanillin. Purification and separation of vanillin from pressurized extract was carried out by organic solvent and ...

Feruloylated pectic substances from sugar-beet pulp
Carbohydrate Research, 1986Abstract Pectins have been isolated from an ethanol-insoluble residue of sugar-beet pulp by sequential extraction with water, oxalate, hot dilute acid, andcold dilute alkali in yields of 2.2, 0.53, 20, and 11%, respectively. They were purified by chromatography on DEAE-cellulose at pH 4.8,or by precipitation with copper sulphate (alkali-soluble ...

World trade of beet pulp pellets
Sugar Industry, 2016Beet pulp remaining after the extraction of sugar from beet is a good source of highly digestible fibre and energy used for animal feeding. Beet pulp is mostly used domestically but about 15% of global dried beet pulp production is exported to the world market.

Sugar beet and beet pulp – a sustainable source of bioactive compounds
Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.), traditionally cultivated for sugar production, has emerged as a promising source of diverse bioactive compounds with significant health-promoting potential. This review explores the phytochemical profile and biological activities of key constituents found in sugar beet and its by-products, including saponins, betaine ...Kołodziejczyk, Krzysztof +2 more

The anaerobic digestion of sugar beet pulp [PDF]
World-wide there are substantial quantities of sugar beet pulp, which arises as a residue after the processing of whole beet to extract sugar for refining as a foodstuff or for use in fermentation, in particular for the production of ethanol for the biofuel market.
