Light Particle Emission Mechanisms in Heavy-Ion Reactions at 5-20 MeV/u

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Light Charged Particle emission mechanisms were studied for different mass entrance channel nuclear reactions. The 300, 400, 500 MeV 64Ni + 68Zn and 130, 250 MeV 16O + 116Sn reactions were measured at the Legnaro National Laboratory using the beams ...

The Spider Anatomy Ontology (SPD)—A Versatile Tool to Link Anatomy with Cross-Disciplinary Data

open access: yesDiversity, 2019
Spiders are a diverse group with a high eco-morphological diversity, which complicates anatomical descriptions especially with regard to its terminology.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Group Selection as Behavioral Adaptation to Systematic Risk

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Despite many compelling applications in economics, sociobiology, and evolutionary psychology, group selection is still one of the most hotly contested ideas in evolutionary biology. Here we propose a simple evolutionary model of behavior and show that what appears to be group selection may, in fact, simply be the consequence of natural selection ...

The effect of relatedness on mating behavior in the satin bowerbird (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Behavior is a main component of sexual selection theory in which male competition and female mate choice influence the evolution of a species. Relatedness commonly affects behavioral interactions, but the potential for relatedness to influence sexual ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Merger Response of Halo Anisotropy Properties

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Anisotropy properties—halo spin, shape, position offset, velocity offset, and orientation—are an important family of dark matter halo properties that indicate the level of directional variation of the internal structures of halos.

Sexual behavior, intraspecific signaling and the evolution of mimicry among closely related species

open access: yes, 2009
textMimicry, an adaptation to deceive, fascinated early naturalist and has been proof of evolution by natural selection since proposed by Henry W. Bates 150 years ago.
