Effects of D-amino acid oxidase inhibition on memory performance and long-term potentiation in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) activation can initiate changes in synaptic strength, evident as long-term potentiation (LTP), and is a key molecular correlate of memory formation.

Prediction of death anxiety through fear of COVID-19, neuroticism, behavioral inhibition system and uncertainty intolerance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Introduction: Due to the increasing rate of COVID-19 disease, experiencing high levels of death anxiety is predictable all over the world. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the prediction path of death anxiety through fear of ...

Facilitated acquisition of eyeblink conditioning in those vulnerable to anxiety disorders

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2013
Behavioral inhibition (BI) increases vulnerability to develop anxiety disorders and is typified by avoidance and withdrawal from novel objects, people, and situations.

Behavioral inhibition and PTSD symptoms in veterans [PDF]

open access: yesPsychiatry Research, 2012
Behavioral inhibition (BI), a temperamental bias to respond to novel stimuli with avoidance behaviors, is a risk factor for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is unclear whether BI accounts for additional variance in PTSD symptom severity beyond that accounted for by general anxiety.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Effects of psychotropic agents on extinction of lever-press avoidance in a rat model of anxiety vulnerability

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2014
Avoidance and its perseveration represent key features of anxiety disorders. Both pharmacological and behavioral approaches (i.e. anxiolytics and extinction therapy) have been utilized to modulate avoidance behavior in patients.

Gender differences in behavioral inhibitory control under evoked acute stress: An event-related potential study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2023
PurposeThis study investigated gender differences in behavioral inhibitory control among college students under acute stress state by using event-related potential technique.MethodsAcute stress was evoked in 41 college students (22 males and 19 females ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Intentional inhibition of actions in humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A crucial component of human behavioural flexibility is the capacity to inhibit actions at the last moment before action execution. This behavioural inhibition is often not an immediate reaction to external stimuli, but rather an endogenous ‘free ...
