Using Maximal Isometric Force to Determine the Optimal Load for Measuring Dynamic Muscle Power [PDF]
Maximal power output occurs when subjects perform ballistic exercises using loads of ~30-50% of one-repetition maximum (1-RM). However, performing 1-RM testing prior to power measurement requires considerable time, especially when testing involves ...

Broadband, Flexible, Skin‐Compatible Carbon Dots/Graphene Photodetectors for Wearable Applications
Broadband, flexible photodetectors integrating nitrogen‐rich carbon dots with single‐layer graphene on plastic substrates are demonstrated. A biocompatible chitosan–glycerol electrolyte enables efficient low‐voltage gating and on‐skin operation. The devices exhibit ultraviolet‐to‐near‐infrared response, mechanical robustness under bending, and verified

Trap‐Assisted Transport and Neuromorphic Plasticity in Lead‐Free 2D Perovskites PEA2SnI4
An artificial retina built from lead‐free layered perovskite (PEA)2SnI4 converts light input into a persistent photocurrent and sums successive flashes over time. Micro/nanocrystals integrated on electrodes act as synapse‐like pixels that perform temporal integration directly in hardware. This in‐sensor preprocessing merges detection and computation on

Muscular Strength and Body Composition Comparison Between the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire and Police Departments [PDF]
Firefighters and police have different physical job requirements and selection processes. Firefighters have on-duty exercise time and police do not. This could affect body composition and strength.

In this report, we demonstrate that a crystalline phase of 52nm thick NiFe2O4 can be grown by RF sputtering on top of γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 at a significantly low temperature (150 °C) without compromising the mobility and carrier density of the 2D electron gas at the γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 interface.

Fluorine‐Free Soft Nanocomposites for High‐Speed Liquid Impact Repellence
Fluorine‐free soft nanocomposite coatings are developed using silicone oil‐mediated mechanical‐stiffness control, enabling ‘dry’ liquid‐repellent surfaces that resist high‐speed water jet impacts up to ∼60 m/s. By tuning nanoparticle loading and oil content, the coatings also achieve >90% optical transparency, amphiphobicity with impact resistance to ...

The impact of test loads on the accuracy of 1RM prediction using the load-velocity relationship
Background Numerous methods have been proposed that use submaximal loads to predict one repetition maximum (1RM). One common method applies standard linear regression equations to load and average vertical lifting velocity (Vmean) data developed during ...
