Using benchmarking for the primary allocation of EU allowances - an application to the German power sector [PDF]
Basing allocation of allowances for existing installations under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme on specific emission values (benchmarks) rather than on historic emissions may have several advantages.

Futility Analysis in the Cross-Validation of Machine Learning Models [PDF]
Many machine learning models have important structural tuning parameters that cannot be directly estimated from the data. The common tactic for setting these parameters is to use resampling methods, such as cross--validation or the bootstrap, to evaluate

Beam-beam compensation studies in the Tevatron with electron lenses
At the Fermilab Tevatron collider, we studied the feasibility of suppressing the antiproton head-on beam-beam tune spread using a magnetically confined 5-keV electron beam with Gaussian transverse profile overlapping with the circulating beam.

High Charge Carrier Mobility in Non‐Conjugated 3D Covalent Organic Frameworks
A non‐conjugated 3D COF constructed via boronate ester linkages from tetraphenylene and pyrene‐based monomers is reported, which exhibits a high charge carrier mobility of 14 ± 1 cm2 V−1 s−1. ABSTRACT π‐Conjugation, π–π stacking, and long‐range order play a central role in determining charge transport efficiency in organic materials.

Benchmarking the business performance of departmental space in universities [PDF]
Purpose and Theory: In UK higher education institutions, facilities management performance tends to be measured in space utilisation and space cost. A new approach uses the return on investment (ROI) concept of income generation to highlight space ...

Flopping-mode electric dipole spin resonance
Traditional approaches to controlling single spins in quantum dots require the generation of large electromagnetic fields to drive many Rabi oscillations within the spin coherence time. We demonstrate "flopping-mode" electric dipole spin resonance, where

Metamaterial Antennas Enhance MRI of the Eye and Occipital Brain
A radiofrequency antenna platform comprising planar and bend configurations is developed, incorporating structurally integrated epsilon‐negative metamaterial unit cells to enhance MRI. These antennas enable high‐resolution in vivo human MRI of the eye, orbit, and occipital brain. Comprehensive validation, including simulations, phantom experiments, SAR,

Beyond Earth: Resilience of Quasi‐2D Perovskite Solar Cells in Space
In the article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202520433), Christoph Putz and co‐workers demonstrate rigid quasi‐2D perovskite solar cells operating in low Earth orbit, delivering stable power for more than 100 days under real‐space conditions. In‐orbit performance is correlated with extensive ground‐based thermal and proton‐irradiation studies on rigid and ...
