Oxygen reduction performance measurements: Discrepancies against benchmarks
Oxygen electrocatalysis is crucial for renewable energy conversion and storage technologies. Specifically for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is the primary reaction that determines performance and costs. The

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Large neighborhood local search for the p-median problem [PDF]
In this paper we consider the well known p-median problem. We introduce a new large neighborhood based on ideas of S.Lin and B.W. Kernighan for the graph partition problem. We study the behavior of the local improvement and Ant Colony algorithms with new

Neuromorphic Engineering Needs Closed-Loop Benchmarks
Neuromorphic engineering aims to build (autonomous) systems by mimicking biological systems. It is motivated by the observation that biological organisms—from algae to primates—excel in sensing their environment, reacting promptly to their perils and ...
