A miniature multi-contrast microscope for functional imaging in freely behaving animals

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Measuring multiple neurophysiologic variables usually requires bulky benchtop optical systems and working with anesthetized animals. Here the authors present a miniature portable microscope for neurovascular imaging in awake rodents, combining ...

Measurement-induced entanglement of two superconducting qubits

open access: yes, 2008
We study the problem of two superconducting quantum qubits coupled via a resonator. If only one quanta is present in the system and the number of photons in the resonator is measured with a null result, the qubits end up in an entangled Bell state.

Flexizyme-Enabled Benchtop Biosynthesis of Thiopeptides.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2019
Thiopeptides are natural antibiotics that are fashioned from short peptides by multiple layers of post-translational modification. Their biosynthesis, in particular the pyridine synthases that form the macrocyclic antibiotic core, has attracted intensive

Bio‐Based Wax Interfaces for Droplet Energy Harvesting at Fluoropolymer‐Like Output Levels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Replacing unsustainable fluorinated polymers in droplet‐based energy harvesters is usually limited by low power outputs, but carefully selected bio‐based polymers are capable of creating fluoropolymer‐like voltage outputs. Abstract Droplet impact and rebound on solid surfaces has emerged as a promising method for energy harvesting, typically ...

Tracheal fluid leakage in benchtop trials: comparison of static versus dynamic ventilation model with and without lubrication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose: Longitudinal folds in tracheal tube (TT) cuffs cause leakage of pooled secretions past the tube cuff, and the most common in vitro method to test the efficacy of a new tube is a benchtop model using an artificial rigid trachea.

Targeting DNA‐LNPs to Endothelial Cells Improves Expression Magnitude, Duration, and Specificity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Attaching antibodies against endothelial cell surface proteins redirects the delivery and expression of DNA‐lipid nanoparticles to organs of interest. Our targeted nanoparticles enable organ‐selective DNA expression in the endothelium of the lungs, brain, or spleen, providing a therapeutic platform for dozens of endothelial‐centric diseases.

Integrated Microfluidic Platform for High‐Throughput Generation of Intestinal Organoids in Hydrogel Droplets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Organoid research offers valuable insights into human biology and disease, but reproducibility and scalability remain significant challenges, particularly for epithelial organoids. Here, we present an integrated microfluidic platform that addresses these limitations by enabling high‐throughput generation of uniform hydrogel microparticles ...
