A new equation is proposed to explain the curvature of spent sparklers. We found the state of a segment of the sparkler to depend strongly on the state of its spent segments. The equation is nearly able to produce the sparkler shape for a range of lengths and for all elevation angles.

To bend or not to bend, the dilemma of multiple bonds
Beyond the second row of the periodic table, the nature of the multiple bonds between main group elements remains yet elusive. At a closer look they turn to be more similar to their second-row counterparts than previously believed.

Experimental Study of the Effects of Immersed Vanes Distance from the Bank on Erosion Pattern and Bed Sedimentation [PDF]
Due to the formation of the secondary and helicoidally vortices in river bend, bed scour at outer bank toe and sedimentation in inner banks can cause dramatic river morphological changes.

Modeling of stress-strain state of piping systems with erosion and corrosion wear
The problems of modeling the stress-deformed state of erosion or corrosion-worn rectilinear sections and the ball-shaped bends of pipeline systems are proposed to solve in a cylindrical coordinate system.

Haemothorax and Thoracic Spine Fractures in the Elderly
Both osteoporotic fractures and pleural effusions are frequently observed in medicine. However, rarely does one associate a hemorrhagic pleural effusion with a thoracic spinal fracture when the patient has not sustained massive trauma.
