Elastic Bending Modulus of Single-Layer Molybdenum Disulphide (MoS2): Finite Thickness Effect [PDF]
We derive, from an empirical interaction potential, an analytic formula for the elastic bending modulus of single-layer MoS2 (SLMoS2). By using this approach, we do not need to define or estimate a thickness value for SLMoS2, which is important due to the substantial controversy in defining this value for two-dimensional or ultrathin nanostructures ...

The Effect of Dyeing and Mohair/Wool Blend Ratio on Fabric Physical Properties
In this study, dyeing effects on the physical properties of blended fabrics containing different ratios of wool and mohair fibers were investigated in detail. Six types of fabrics were produced by using 100% wool yarns and 100% mohair yarns separately in

Fatigue Crack Growth in Welded S355 Samples Subjected to Bending Loading
The paper presents a result of experimental tests of welded S355 samples subjected to bending loading. In order to analyze how the fillet joints’ shape and the load ratio affect the crack growth, we selected two kinds of the fillet shape: concave and ...

The successful in situ polymerization of microtubules in giant polymer‐lipid hybrid vesicles is illustrated. The microtubules formed in the giant hybrid vesicles exhibit different morphologies including lumenal network formation and membrane association. Abstract Creating artificial cells with a dynamic cytoskeleton, akin to those in living cells, is a

Elasticity of Diametrically Compressed Microfabricated Woodpile Lattices
Modulus–porosity relationship is derived for woodpile lattices with struts under diametrical compression. The formula presented here that Young's modulus is proportional to the square of the volume fraction E˜ρ2$E \sim \left(\rho\right)^{2}$ is shown to be consistent with computations and laboratory experiments on 3D‐printed samples.

In this study, exciting new bi‐/multi‐linear elastic behavior of soft elastic composites that accompany the activation of wrinkling in the embedded interfacial layers is analyzed. The new features and performance of these composite materials, including dramatic enhancements in energy storage, can be tailored by the concentration of interfacial layers ...

Digital Methods for the Fatigue Assessment of Engineering Steels
The use of engineering steels is often limited by their fatigue strength. In the sake of a faster product development, the fatigue behavior can be predicted by machine learning (ML). In this work, ML is applied on a heterogeneous database, covering a wide range of steel types.
