p–y curve of laterally loaded batter piles considering effect of uplift loads

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2020
A series of model tests on a single pile are conducted under combined loading. Based on the load-displacement curves of pile head and strains of pile body obtained from model tests, the lateral soil resistance and the corresponding lateral displacement ...

Investigation of cold-formed steel top-hat sections under bending

open access: yes, 2013
In recent years, with the introduction of higher strength grades, cold-formed steel sections have become increasingly more slender. As a result, top-hat purlin sections have become an alternative to conventional zed purlins, particularly when smaller ...

Microstructure‐Controlled Crack Propagation and Fracture Resistance in MoSiBTiC Alloy Revealed by Multiscale Extended Finite Element Method Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

TORSION PLUS BENDING AND SHEAR ON REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2016
This paper is relevant with reinforced concrete beams subjected to combined torsional moments, bending moments and its comitant shear forces. Six identical beams in its dimensions and reinforcement, but different in the external loading setup were ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

The effects of seeding rate on yield, lodging resistance and culm strength in wheat

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2020
We compared the effects of four seeding rates, 60, 100, 140, and 180 seeds m−2, on yield, lodging resistance and culm strength using two Japanese wheat cultivars Ayahikari and Iwainodaichi.

STUDY ON EVALUATION METHOD OF STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE OF CONNECTION IN MOMENT RESISTANCE TIMBER FRAME UNDER COMBINED STRESS OF BENDING MOMENT AND SHEARING FORCE

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering (Transactions of AIJ), 2010
The purpose of this study is to establish the evaluation method of the structural performance of connection in moment resistance timber frame under combined stress of bending moment and shearing force. In order to make clear the problem, bending and shearing tests with several different shear span lengths were carried out.Moment capacity of the moment ...

Cracking and tension field action in composite beams [PDF]

open access: yes
Two aspects of the behaviour of uncased composite 'T' beams of steel and concrete are considered. Flexural cracking in the reinforced concrete slab was studied by subjecting seven 350-mm deep composite beams to hogging bending moment.
