Enhanced Performance of Piezoelectric Bending Actuator by Material Redistribution

2020 International Symposium on Devices, Circuits and Systems (ISDCS), 2020
This paper presents a design of a piezoelectric bending actuator to achieve enhanced performance by redistributing its piezoelectric material. The performance of the present design has been evaluated by using commercial finite element package. The result reveals that the tip deflection, block force, output energy, output energy density and energy ...

Genre-Bending Performance

PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art, 2006
his past February, I attended the National Review of Live Art (NRLA) for the first time. The NRLA, which is the longest running live art festival in the UK (about 30 years) is produced by Artistic Director Nikki Milican's company New Moves International as part of the annual new genre art festival, entitled New Territories.

Wearable Textile Antennas: Examining the effect of bending on their performance

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 2017
This article presents a study on the effect of bending on the performance of a rectangular textile-patch antenna operating at a 2.4-GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band. The substrate of the antenna was made from denim textile, and the conducting layers were made from a copper and nickel plated polyester fabric.

Effect of toe-joint Bending on biped gait performance

2010 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics, 2010
Walking like human might be considered as the most important objective for humanoid robots. Toe-joint is perhaps one of the most important missing parts of the structure of humanoid, which can play essential role in natural walking. Regarding this fact, the effect of toe-joint in improving performance of motion is studied in this paper.

Bending of a Nitinol cantilever and its fatigue performance

Extreme Mechanics Letters, 2021
Abstract The bending of a superelastic Nitinol cantilever is analyzed, where the deformation is caused by a non-parallel, rigid, friction free constraining surface that approaches the cantilever at an angle, making contact first with its tip. The analysis accounts for geometric nonlinearity and the materially nonlinear behavior of the Nitinol.

Influence of shoe sole bending stiffness on sprinting performance

The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness, 2018
This study investigated the influence of shoe sole bending stiffness on sprint performance, in relation to anthropometric and strength-power capability characteristics of sprinters.Seventeen male athletes performed three maximal effort 60-m sprints using spiked-shoes with different bending stiffness sole.

Performance of Baffled Chute with 90° Bend

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1981
The effects of a 90° bend on scour and splash in a baffled chute have been studied in a 1:12 model. The model design followed recommended United States Bureau of Reclamation practice except for the square bend. Various combinations of guide vanes and bend floor elevations were examined in 12-ft and 24-ft (3.7-m and 7.3m) wide chutes carrying 40 cfs/ft (

Bending Performance of Thin 3D Printed Antennas

2020 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and North American Radio Science Meeting, 2020
Additive Manufacturing (AM) techniques are used to fabricate several-layer thin antennas. A uniplanar coplanar waveguide fed monopole is proposed, and the physical effects of bending are investigated.

Performance of a novel VUV bending magnet beamline

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2001
AbstractA novel high resolution, high flux bending magnet beamline with an energy range from 5to 40eV has beenconstructed at SRRC. This Dragon-like beamline, which horizontally collects 50mrad of synchrotron radiationfrom a bending magnet source, uses four cylindrical gratings with an included angle of 1408 and a movablecurved exit slit.
