Effects of bending on the performance of split ring resonators
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2012AbstractIn this letter, the bending effects on the performance of split ring resonators (SRRs), which is characterized by the effective electromagnetic constitutive parameters are investigated. This study is important since SRR is the basic bulk component of the left‐handed metamaterial, which plays a vital role in future's microwave and optical ...

Performance of Coons’ Macroelements in Plate Bending Analysis
International Journal for Computational Methods in Engineering Science and Mechanics, 2014This paper proposes a general procedure to develop arbitrary noded-plate macroelements with C1-continuity based on Coons’ interpolation formula. The novelty of the proposed approach lies in the fact that the degrees of freedom appear only along the boundaries of the quadrilateral patch and are used for the successful calculation of displacements and ...

The Embroidered Antenna on Bending Performances for UWB Application
2014The performances of embroidered UWB wearable textile antenna due to the effect in bend conditions is discussed in this paper. The radiating element of the antenna is made of silver plated nylon thread by using embroidery technique, while the antenna substrate is cotton fabric and Nora dell as a ground plane.

Bending Performance of Basalt Fiber Reinforced Cement
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Basalt fiber is highly active when react with cement, thus was used as a replacement of steel rebar to enhance the flexural performance of cement mortar. Basalt fiber and its grid fabric were used in this study. The resulting bending strength revealed that the bending strength of short fiber and grid fabric reinforced mortar were improved 29.4% and 49 ...

Effects of bending on free electron laser performance
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1988Abstract The ability of electromagnetic radiation to follow bends of the electron beam path in a high-gain free electron laser is investigated by considering the mode structure of propagation inside a bent undulator. For this purpose the mode equation, previously studied in the context of optical guiding in a straight undulator, is modified so as to ...

Bending Performance Prediction of Intramedullary Nails
2015The design of a trauma implant represents a challenge for manufacturers and mechanical design criteria are necessary to avoid repeated experimental tests. Particularly, the design of intramedullary nails could be optimized on the basis of theoretical evaluation. The goal of the study was to theoretically predict the static performance of six cannulated

New rectangular plate bending elements and their performance
Computers & Structures, 1994Abstract Three rectangular plate bending elements have been developed: E14A, E14B and E16. They have 14 and 16 degrees of freedom and are displacement-based Mindlin plate theory elements. These elements behave well for a wide range of aspect ratios. None of these elements show any sign of the ‘shear locking’ phenomenon for thin plates.

Experimental research on bending performance of structural cable
Construction and Building Materials, 2015Abstract Studies on bending properties of cables have long history but those researches are mainly around electrical conductors with very limit experimental discussions on structural cables. One approach on dynamic problems are through understanding changes in bending stiffness and utilized the varying bending rigidity into beam theory or beam finite

Performance ofS-bends for integrated-optic waveguides
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1998The performance of S-bends, which are used for connecting waveguides offset with respect to each other, is very important in integrated-optic waveguide circuits. Several approaches for the design of S-bends have been reported in the literature. These include, in particular, designs based on simple sinusoidal curves as well as relatively complicated ...
