Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Measurement of magnetic properties of grain-oriented electrical steel considering multi-physics factors influence

open access: yesAIP Advances
The magnetic properties of electrical steel sheets are strongly affected by the Multi-Physics Factors (MPF), such as bending stress, working temperature, and magnetization patterns. To investigate the complex magnetic properties of the material under MPF

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Elastic and Irreversible Bending of Tree and Shrub Branches Under Cantilever Loads

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Tree and shrub branches subjected to cantilever loads such as intercepted snowfall undergo, in addition to the familiar instantaneous elastic bending, a conspicuous retarded-elastic bending, which is commonly 30–50% of their instantaneous bending and ...
