Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Mechanical Behavior and Fracture Mechanisms of MXene/PVDF Nanocomponsites: In Situ Characterization and Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...

BENDING ANALYSIS OF ORTHOTROPIC PLATES WITH ARBITRARY BENDING AND TORSIONAL STIFFNESS

open access: yesDoboku Gakkai Ronbunshu, 2003

The stress distribution in the joints of vehicles chassis frames subject to torsion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
The problem of warping inhibition in the joints, of commercial vehicle chassis frames is very important for the estimation. of stress distribution in the joints and the overall torsional stiffness of frames.

Multimodal Soft Surgical Robots Enabled by Eco‐Degradable, Sterilizable Polymers and Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A compostable PGS soft surgical robot with interchangeable modules integrates transient Mo tactile and Si thermal sensors for dual feedback. The device preserves its function after clinical‐grade sterilization, demonstrates stable actuation and cardiac tissue grasping with real‐time in vivo pulsatile monitoring, and biodegrades post‐use with soil‐safe,

Theoretical framework for DOUBLE-DOUBLE composite plates under bending loads

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology
This paper provides an insightful comparative analysis of laminated composite plates, focusing on two main stacking sequence groups: the traditional QUAD and the more recent DOUBLE-DOUBLE (DD) proposed by Professor Stephen Tsai.

Damage identification in a concrete beam using curvature difference ratio

open access: yes, 2011
Previous studies utilising changes in mode shape or curvature to locate damage rely on the fact that the greatest change occurs around the defect. However, in concrete beams this fact is undermined due to the nature of the defect as distributed multi ...

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Texoskeletons: Developing the Fundamental Technologies for Creating Intelligent Soft Robotic Clothing With Integrated 1D Sensors and Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traditional wearable exoskeletons rely on rigid structures, which limit comfort, flexibility, and everyday usability. This work introduces the fundamental technologies to create the first soft, lightweight, intelligent textile‐based exoskeletons (Texoskeletons) built using 1D sensors and actuators.

Bending Behaviour and Failure Modes of Non-Glue-Laminated Timber Beams Composed of Wooden Dowels and Self-Tapping Screws

open access: yesBuildings
The purpose of this research is to compare the bending behaviour of non-glue-laminated timber beams and glulams by full-scale four-point bending tests.
