3-D analytical model for bending stiffness of thick-walled composite hollow shaft

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2021
In this paper, the Layer-wise theory was improve based on the alternate characteristics of layer angle of composite hollow shaft. The ±φ i laminate was considered as the minimum mechanical analysis element, which can effectively simplify the stress ...

Nonlinear softening and hardening nonlocal bending stiffness of an initially curved monolayer graphene

open access: yes, 2013
In the present article, the governing nonlinear nonlocal elastic equations are obtained for a monolayer graphene with an initial curvature and the related softening and hardening bending stiffness is analytically calculated.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Numerical study on engineering characteristics of positive-negative inclined double-row piles at embankment slope toe under different stiffness ratios

open access: yesZhongguo dizhi zaihai yu fangzhi xuebao
Under embankment load, subgrade tends to produce large lateral deformation, and it is necessary to adopt reasonable lateral restraint structures. Positive-negative inclined double-row piles have been studied in foundation pit engineering, but are rarely ...
