A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Physico-Mechanical Properties of Sugarcane Stalks
Manual harvesting of sugarcane requires skilled labourers, as improper harvesting leads to a significant loss of yield. Therefore, it is necessary to move towards designing a system capable of harvesting sugarcane on smallholdings, with high harvesting ...

Biomechanics of buttressed trees: bending strains and stresses [PDF]
The different hypotheses about buttress function and formation mainly involve mechanical theory. Forces were applied to two trees of Sloanea spp., a tropical genus that develops typical thin buttresses, and the three‐dimensional strains were measured at different parts of the trunk base.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
