Torsion and Bend Tests

1999
The most convenient method of measuring the shear modulus is via a torsion test (see Stress and Strain). The usual torsion test involves the use of a solid cylindrical specimen clamped rigidly at one end with a torque applied to the other end. This causes twisting of the sample as illustrated in figure 1 and results in pure shear of the sample.

Bend Testing of Forged Al66Ti25Cr9

MRS Proceedings, 1992
Several recent reports on the mechanical behavior of polycrystalline L12 trialuminides, particularly those based on the ternary Al-Ti-Cr and Al-Ti-Mn systems, have indicated limited tensile ductility at low temperatures (≤623K) as measured in uniaxial tension or in three- and four-point bending.

Cavitation Tests in Pipe Bends

Journal of Basic Engineering, 1966
A series of experiments on the square-section bends was performed for determining the effects of the following shape differences of the surface-pressure distributions on cavitation inception. (a) Difference of the lengths of minimum pressure region; (b) difference of the pressure gradients. The effects of those differences were clarified.

Notched Bar-Bending Test

1974
A new method of testing for hydrogen embrittlement of high-strength steels is described. Results of tests conducted to compare the ability of the new method and the stress-rupture machine to detect detrimental absorbed hydrogen are given. The new method was found to provide reliability, simplicity, and low cost for hydrogen embrittlement testing and ...
