A rotary piezoelectric actuator using longitudinal and bending hybrid transducer

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2012
A rotary piezoelectric actuator using bolt-clamped type transducer with double driving feet is proposed in this study. The first-order longitudinal and fourth-order bending vibration modes are superimposed in the actuator to produce elliptical movements ...

Photon Avalanching Nanoparticles: The Next Generation of Upconverting Nanomaterials?

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective outlines the mechanistic foundations that enable photon‐avalanche (PA) behavior in lanthanide nanomaterials and contrasts them with emerging application spaces and forward‐looking design strategies. By bridging threshold engineering, energy‐transfer dynamics, and materials engineering, we provide a coherent roadmap for advancing the ...

Influence of structural design parameters on seismic performance of shaped single-tower cable-stayed bridges [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The geometry and stress state of special-shaped cable-stayed bridges are complicated, so there is no uniform conclusion on their seismic performance and damage mechanisms under random seismic excitation.

Kinetic study of crystallisation of sol-gel derived calcia-alumina binary compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In-situ High Temperature X-ray Diffraction (HTXRD) and Differential Scanning Calorimetric (DSC) studies were performed on a sol-gel derived binary compound of a calcia-alumina (C12A7) system consisting of calcium oxide (CaO) and aluminium oxide (Al2O3 ...

Disordered Carbon Shells Enable Shape Dependent Fluorescence Enhancement in Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors Revealed by Correlative TEM–Fluorescence Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molten KNO2 treatment induces a lowrefractive index disordered carbon shell on fluorescent nanodiamonds, enhancing fluorescence emission while preserving spin coherence. Machine learningassisted correlative TEMPL enables direct single‐particle resolution of this enhancement relative to air‐oxidized nanodiamonds of similar morphology, establishing a ...

Stiffness Loss of Curvic Coupling Under Bending Vibration and Its Effect on Dynamic Characteristics of Rotor Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
Aiming at the complex mechanical characteristics of the curvic coupling in the aero-engine rotor under operation condition, the contact stiffness model of the curvic coupling under the bending vibration is proposed to study the law of stiffness loss of ...

Single‐ and Dual‐Atom Configurations in Atomically Dispersed Catalysts for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐atom and dual‐atom‐based atomically dispersed catalysts (ADCs) effectively address the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics in Li–S batteries. With nearly 100% atomic utilization and tunable coordination environments, ADCs enhance LiPSs adsorption, lower conversion barriers, and accelerate sulfur redox reactions.

Linear modal analysis of L-shaped beam structures: parametric studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Linear modal analysis of L-shaped beam structures indicates that there are two independent motions, these are in-plane bending and out of plane motions including bending and torsion. Natural frequencies of the structure can be determined by finding the
