Formation of Stable Amorphous Calcium Phosphate and Collagen Assemblies by a Versatile Spray‐Drying Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) microparticles with long‐term and thermal stability are prepared with or without collagen using a scalable one‐pot spray‐drying process. Under simulated physiological conditions, they crystallize into biomimetic bone mineral and, when combined with collagen, form extrudable, fibrillar bone‐like 3D constructs.

Free vibrations of delaminated beams [PDF]

open access: yes
Free vibration of laminated composite beams is studied. The effect of interply delaminations on natural frequencies and mode shapes is evaluated both analytically and experimentally.

An examination of the relations between rotor vibratory loads and airframe vibrations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Harmonic rotor hub loads and airframe interactions in steady flight are reviewed, with regard to the objective of achieving lower airframe vibration by modifying blade root loads.

Raman Microscopy at the Organic–Inorganic Interfaces in Human Calcified Aortic Valves Shows the Co‐Existence of Whitlockite Crystals and Carbonated Hydroxyapatite‐Mineralized Collagen Fibrils

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study advances our understanding of aortic valve stenosis by capturing spatially resolved chemical and structural changes at the nanoscale. The findings highlight the potential of combined Raman and electron microscopy for understanding calcification mechanisms across diverse tissue types.

A Piezoelectric Energy Harvester with Bending–Torsion Vibration in Low-Speed Water

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
This paper presents a piezoelectric energy harvester using an eccentric cylinder undergoing bending–torsion vibration in low-speed water. It can harvest energy from water using vortex-induced vibration (VIV).

A new modal-based damage location indicator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Vibration-based damage detection techniques use the change in modal data as an indicator to assess damages in the structure. Knowing the structural dynamic characteristics of the healthy and damaged structure, the estimation of the damage location and ...

Tuning the Selectivity of the CO2 Reduction Reaction by Means of Synergistic Interactions in the Cu, Ag, Ce System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multi‐metal Cu─Ce─Ag nanoparticles harness synergistic interactions to drive efficient electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction toward C2+ products at high current densities. Ag enhances CO production, Ce modulates Cu oxidation states, and together they boost *CO coverage and local pH to enhance C─C coupling, enabling record C2+ yields with suppressed ...

A New Insight to Vibration Characteristics of Spans under Random Moving Load: Case Study of 38 Bridges in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
We propose a novel representative power spectrum density as a specific characteristic for showing responses of spans during a long operational period. The idea behind this method is to use the representative power spectrum density as a powerful tool to ...

The effect of a small initial curvature on the free vibration of clamped, rectangular plates [PDF]

open access: yes
An analytical method of obtaining the natural frequencies and mode shapes of clamped, rectangular plates having a small initial curvature is presented. Specifically, the singular perturbation technique is used to reduce the fourth-order plate vibration ...

A Raman spectroscopic study of the interaction between nucleotides and the DNA binding protein gp32 of bacteriophage T4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Raman spectra of the bacteriophage T4 denaturing protein gp32, its complex with the polynucleotides poly(rA), poly(dA), poly(dT), poly(rU), and poly(rC), and with the oligonucleotides (dA)8 and (dA)2, were recorded and interpreted.
