The emerging pathogen Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei drives a degenerative cyclic pattern in the hepatopancreas microbiome of the shrimp (Penaeus vannamei)

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The microsporidian Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP) is an emerging pathogen that causes substantial economic losses in shrimp (Penaeus spp.) aquaculture worldwide. To prevent diseases in shrimp, the manipulation of the gut microbiota has been suggested.

Genome‐Wide Association Study Reveals Insect Genetics and Microbial Symbiont Effects on Susceptibility of Diaphorina citri to the Citrus Greening Pathogen, Candidatus Liberibacter Asiaticus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the genetic and microbial factors influencing the susceptibility of Diaphorina citri to the citrus greening pathogen Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas), employing a microbiome Genome Wide Association Study. The research identifies a key gene encoding an MFS‐type transporter contributing to CLas infectivity and abundance in

Beneficial Effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Trichoderma on Diseased Shallot

open access: yesJurnal Perlindungan Tanaman Indonesia, 2020
Purple blotch and fusarium basal rot are important shallot diseases which have caused significant yield loss. An alternative control method for these diseases is the use of biocontrol agents, such as arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and Trichoderma. The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of AMF and Trichoderma sp.

Pathogen-Mediated Alterations of Insect Chemical Communication: From Pheromones to Behavior

open access: yesPathogens, 2023
Pathogens can influence the physiology and behavior of both animal and plant hosts in a manner that promotes their own transmission and dispersal. Recent research focusing on insects has revealed that these manipulations can extend to the production of ...

Gemella morbillorum Promotes Colorectal Carcinogenesis: LPBDCP‐Mediated Invasion Activates Ras Signaling and Destabilizes p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.
