“Benign” hypergammaglobulinemic purpura is not benign in pregnancy

A woman presented at 25 weeks gestation in her first pregnancy with severe preeclampsia and an intrauterine death. It later emerged that she had Waldenstrom's benign hypergammaglobulinemic purpura.
