Littoral macroinvertebrate communities of alpine lakes along an elevational gradient (Hohe Tauern National Park, Austria).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Alpine lakes support unique communities which may respond with great sensitivity to climate change. Thus, an understanding of the drivers of the structure of communities inhabiting alpine lakes is important to predict potential changes in the future.

Water Quality Assessment of Sager Creek Utilizing Physiochemical Parameters and a Family-Level Biotic Index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An annual rapid bioassessment and physiochemical survey of Sager Creek in Northwest Arkansas was conducted. Sager Creek is a first to second order stream that flows through the city of Siloam Springs, AR.

Macroinvertebrate benthic community as rapid quality assessment in Winongo, Code, and Gajahwong Streams inside Yogyakarta City, Special Region of Yogyakarta Province

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Streams in Yogyakarta City are classified as an urban river, they receive huge amount of organic matter daily from anthropogenic waste. Growing urbanization affected water ecosystem causing water quality and benthic community changes.

Relative impacts of morphological alteration to shorelines and eutrophication on littoral macroinvertebrates in Mediterranean lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Development of effective methods for assessing the ecological status of lakes based on littoral benthic fauna has been hampered by the lack of quantitative data on the relative impacts of key pressures on the benthic community.

The habitat type and trophic state determine benthic macroinvertebrate communities in lowland shallow lakes of China

open access: yesJournal of Limnology, 2016
Benthic macroinvertebrates play important roles in shallow lake ecosystems. Several studies based on qualitative comparisons of the amount of macrophytes were carried out to relate benthic macroinvertebrate assemblages to habitat conditions in shallow ...

Effects of Salmon Spawning Activity on Macroinvertebrates in a Small Michigan Stream [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Density and composition of macroinvertebrate populations were examined prior to and during the migration and spawning of coho and chinook salmon in a small stream in Michigan.

Taxon and trait-based sampling curves can be used as a tool for assessing impairment in salinized headwater streams

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2022
Many ecosystems are losing biodiversity, raising concern for the services they provide. However, the extent of loss is uncertain, especially for diverse insects, because of incomplete sampling. Modeling techniques for estimating upper bounds on diversity

Benthic macroinvertebrate of Adıgüzel Reservoir (Denizli, Turkey)

open access: yesEge Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 2016
In order to determine the benthic macro-invertebrates of Adiguzel Reservoir, samplings were performed between January 2007 and December 2007 at four stations in dam lake and littoral zone. During the samplings, an Ekman Grab was used in those stations located in dam lake and 180 µ mesh sized hand nets were used in coastal samplings.

Multivariate approaches to assess the drivers of benthic macroinvertebrate communities and biotic indices in a highly urbanized fluvial-estuarine system

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2022
Urban estuaries are amongst the most severely altered systems worldwide and undergo a wide range of ecological crises such as habitat destruction, nutrient enrichment and hydrodynamic alterations, resulting in an irreversible loss of biodiversity as well
