A NiOx‐Mediated Z‐Scheme Hybrid Photocatalyst for Efficient and Selective Oxidation of Inert C(sp3)–H Bonds

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
A NiOx‐mediated Z‐scheme NiOx‐BWO‐TiO2 hybrid photocatalyst for the oxidation of inert benzylic C(sp3)─H bonds to aromatic aldehydes using molecular oxygen has been developed. ABSTRACT The selective photocatalytic oxidation of inert benzylic C(sp3)–H bonds to aromatic aldehydes using molecular oxygen remains a formidable challenge due to uncontrolled ...

Reductively Stable Platinum Catalyst Enabling Metallaphotoredox Reductive Allylation of Ketones, Aldehydes, and Imines

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
This work demonstrates catalytic reductive allylation of ketones, aldehydes, and imines using a platinum/photoredox system. The method exhibits broad substrate scope and affords homoallylic alcohols and amines difficult to access with conventional methods.

Catalytic Asymmetric Synthesis of gem‐Dicyano‐Spirocyclopropyl Oxindoles by N‐9‐Anth‐PyBidine‐Co(OAc)2: Advantage of Three‐Component Coupling Approach

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
Chiral gem‐dicyano‐spirocyclopropyl oxindoles are obtained by a chiral N‐9‐Anth‐PyBidine‐Co(OAc)2‐catalyzed asymmetric Michael/alkylation reaction of 3‐chlorooxindoles with alkylidenemalononitriles. The three‐component coupling reaction of 3‐chlorooxindoles, aldehydes, and malononitrile shows the advantage of not requiring the preparation of ...

Molecule‐Based Dinuclear Metal Catalysts for CO2 Photoreduction: From Homogeneous Complexes to Heterogeneous Hybrids

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
Photocatalytic CO2 reduction represents a sustainable strategy to convert greenhouse gases into fuels and value‐added chemicals driven by solar energy, showing great potential for carbon recycling. However, the inherent inertness of CO2 poses a significant challenge to achieving efficient photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Among various catalysts, dinuclear

Photoisomerization in Cyclic Dipeptide Derivatives: Photoswitchable Supramolecular Hydrogels and the Discovery of Hemipiperazine Photoswitches

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 3, March 2026.
Photoswitchable cyclic dipeptides (CDPs) can be used to prepare hydrogels that reversibly dissipate upon irradiation, or to photomodulate the development of living organisms. We report here applications and perspectives for CDPs containing azobenzene photoswitches or newly discovered hemipiperazine photoswitches in smart materials and biological ...
