Biomimetic complexes of lanthanide‐dependent methanol dehydrogenases bearing a pyrroloquinoline quinone dimethyl ester ligand can oxidize alcohols to aldehydes. Spectroscopic studies on the reaction shed light on the mechanism of the reaction and may explain trends observed in the enzyme.

On the Preparation of Nickel Porphyrins Bearing Two to Four Nitro Groups at β‐Positions
The preparation and unambiguous identification via NMR spectroscopy of all six β$\beta$,β‐dinitrometalloporphyrin isomers and three out of fourβ$\beta$,β,β‐trinitrometalloporphyrin isomers are described, along with attempts to prepare β,β,β,β‐tetranitrometalloporphyrins via both direct nitration and condensation of nitropyrroles.
