The Fate of MTBE and BTEX in Constructed Wetlands

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Hydrocarbon contamination of water resources is a global issue. These compounds are generated and discharged into the environment in industrial areas from chemical and petrochemical plants, oil refineries, power plants, and so forth.

Using In Situ TEM to Understand the Surfaces of Electrocatalysts at Reaction Conditions: Single‐Atoms to Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in closed‐cell in situ TEM strategies for accurate determination of the activity and stability of single‐atom catalyst systems during operation. Operando conditions causing dynamic changes of SAC systems are highlighted and we explain why ensemble average‐based optical techniques may benefit from the technological

Adsorption Of Water And Benzene Vapour In Mesoporous Materials

open access: yesMakara Seri Sains, 2008
Mesoporous materials have attracted the attention of many researchers due to the potential applications promised by the materials. This article discusses adsorption of water and benzene vapour in mesoporous materials (mesoporous silica: MCM-41, MCM-48 ...

Photoluminescent UV Light Modulation via Anisometric Carbon Nanodots for UV–Visible Shutter and UV Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Anisometric carbon nanodots are synthesized directly from a liquid crystal precursor and embedded into polymer network liquid crystals to create soft, multifunctional photonic films. These hybrid devices exhibit polarized photoluminescence, broad UV absorption, and fast, electrically tunable light modulation.

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Water Sorption: The Importance of Framework Physical Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the water‐vapor stability of 2D covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with varying pore sizes. Results reveal microporous COFs demonstrate superior stability compared to mesoporous ones, despite lower water uptake. Mesoporous keto‐enamine‐linked COFs show enhanced stability due to intralayer hydrogen bonds, confirmed by simulations and

A Smart Bio‐Battery Facilitates Diabetic Bone Defect Repair Via Inducing Macrophage Reprogramming and Synergistically Modulating Bone Remodeling Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel implantable bio‐battery, GF‐OsG, tailored for diabetic bone repair. GF‐OsG generates microcurrents in high‐glucose conditions to enhance vascularization, shift macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and regulate immune responses.

Effect of respiratory exposure to benzene, toluene, xylene and ethyl benzene on the spirometric indices in two consecutive years among the petroleum products loading workers

open access: yesطب کار, 2020
Introduction: Benzene, toluene, xylene and ethylbenzene (BTEX) are the most important aromatic compounds in petroleum products. Due to high vapor pressure, BTEX compounds easily change to gas form and mixed with ambient air.

Are dispersion corrections accurate outside equilibrium? A case study on benzene

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
Modern approaches to modelling dispersion forces are becoming increasingly accurate, and can predict accurate binding distances and energies. However, it is possible that these successes reflect a fortuitous cancellation of errors at equilibrium.

Novel Hierarchical Fe(III)-Doped Cu-MOFs With Enhanced Adsorption of Benzene Vapor

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
New hierarchical Fe(III)-doped Cu-MOFs (Fe-HK) were developed via introduction of Fe3+ ions during HKUST-1 synthesis. The obtained products were characterized by N2 adsorption, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive ...

Multi‐Faceted Binder Enhancement via Slurry‐Applicable Thiol‐Ene Click Chemistry for Low‐Pressure‐Operable All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cross‐linked binders with enhanced resiliencies under low operating pressures are designed via in situ thiol‐ene click reactions within slurries. Cross‐linking improves the Young's moduli and elasticities of the styrene‐butadiene rubber binders, effectively mitigating interparticle delamination within the composite cathodes induced by volumetric ...
