Convexity Deficit of Benzenoids [PDF]

open access: yesCroatica chemica acta, 2020
In 2012, a family of benzenoids was introduced by Cruz, Gutman, and Rada, which they called convex benzenoids. In this paper we introduce the convexity deficit, a new topological index intended for benzenoids and, more generally, fusenes. This index measures by how much a given fusene departs from convexity. It is defined in terms of the boundary-edges

Recent advances in photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide production

open access: yesPhotoMat, EarlyView., 2023
We classify the representative photocatalytic materials for photosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in recent years and discuss the related modification methods in detail, providing inspiration and insights for the future design of photocatalysts for H2O2 production.

An induced P3 packing k-partition number for Benzenoid system [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics and Computational Sciences
Benzenoid systems are formed by collections of congruent hexagons arranged in the plane such that any two hexagons are either disjoint or share a common edge. These structures are naturally studied through graph-theoretic packing parameters.

Partitioning of π-electrons in rings of diaza-derivatives of acenes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2008
A few years ago, a method was proposed for assessing the π-electron content (EC) of rings in heteroatom-containing benzenoid molecules. In this work, the effect of two nitrogen atoms at the opposite sides of a linear benzenoid molecule on the ...

Synthesis of Aromatic Rings Embedded in Polycyclic Scaffolds by Triyne Cycloaddition: Competition between Carbonylative and Non-Carbonylative Pathways

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Cycloadditions have emerged as some of the most useful reactions for the formation of polycyclic compounds. The carbonylative cycloaddition of triynes can lead to carbonylative and non-carbonylative competitive pathways, each leading to the formation of ...

Floral Scent Variation in the Heterostylous Species Gelsemium sempervirens

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Gelsemium sempervirens (L.) W.T. Aiton, a distylous woody vine of the family Gelsemiaceae, produces sweetly fragrant flowers that are known for the toxic alkaloids they contain.

Analysis of irregularity measures of zigzag, rhombic, and honeycomb benzenoid systems

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2020
Molecular topology is a key to determine the physiochemical aspects of the molecular structure. To determine the degree of irregularity of a certain molecular structure or a network has been a key source of interest for the molecular topologists as it ...

From Static to Dynamic: Electron Density of HOMO at Biaryl Linkage Controls the Mechanism of Hole Delocalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In order to extend the physical length of hole delocalization in a molecular wire, chromophores of increasing size are often desired. However, the effect of size on the efficacy and mechanism of hole delocalization remains elusive.

Testing the Clar theory: Cyclic conjugation in some benzo- and naphthaleno-annelated ovalenes [PDF]

open access: yesKragujevac Journal of Science, 2014
Cyclic conjugation (assessed by its energy effect) is studied in benzo- and naphthaleno-annelated ovalenes, in which annelation is in positions d and o.

Photophysics and Inverted Solvatochromism of 7,7,8,8-Tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We report the absorption, fluorescence, and Raman spectroscopy of 7,7,8,8- tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) in a variety of solvents. The fluorescence quantum yields (QYs) of linear alkane solutions are similar to one another, but QY is shown to acutely ...
