Mechanochromic Organic Materials: Molecular Mechanisms and Multidimensional Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 5, Issue 2, February 2026.
Mechanochromic (MC) organic materials change color in response to mechanical force. This review elucidates the molecular mechanisms (e.g., aggregation‐induced emission, AIE) and explores their multidimensional applications in sensors, anti‐counterfeiting, biomedical devices, and structural health monitoring, providing a roadmap for future smart ...

Formiranje policikličkih ugljikohidrata tijekom procesa dimljenja sira [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The smoking process determines the characteristic flavour, odour, colour and texture of several cheese varieties. Some smoke compounds are known to have bacteriostatic and antioxidant effects, and may act as preservatives. Smoked cheese is appreciated by

Dusty Streets: The Challenge of Dust‐Borne Pollutants in Low‐Income Countries

open access: yesCLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, Volume 54, Issue 2, February 2026.
Generally, pollution impacts developed and low‐income countries (LICs) to different extents, and the disease burden due to roadway dust is not uniformly distributed across socio‐economic classes. Roadway dust materials from paved and unpaved urban and rural roads were reported to contain organic constituents which are toxic and affect public health ...

Comparative multi‐omics in female mice reveals tissue‐specific vulnerabilities to chronic alcohol intake

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, Volume 50, Issue 2, February 2026.
Using mice, we applied multi‐omics to compare liver and skeletal muscle after chronic alcohol consumption. The liver responded more strongly across genes, proteins, and metabolites, with a lowered PC:PE ratio. Muscle showed inflammation, extracellular matrix activation, impaired mitochondrial energetics, and an elevated PC:PE ratio. Lipidomics affected

Evaluation of the pollution pressures posed by groups of chemicals on British riverine invertebrate populations

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 1, Page 106-127, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Globally, rivers receive a diverse range of chemicals, including metals, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants, petrochemicals, human and veterinary pharmaceuticals and personal care products. However, the extent to which these different chemical groups affect riverine invertebrate communities is not well defined.

Determination of benzoapyrene in traditional, industrial and semi-industrial breads using a modified QuEChERS extraction, dispersive SPE and GC-MS and estimation of its dietary intake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A fast and simple modified QuEChERS extraction method was developed for determination of Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in 137 traditional (Sangak), semi-industrial (Sangak) and industrial bread samples using spiked calibration curves by GC/MS.

Lifestyle implications of the paradox and management of oxidative stress in sperm

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 3, Page 1028-1044, 1 February 2026.
Abstract figure legend Lifestyle factors influencing male fertility. Schematic overview of lifestyle factors with beneficial (left) and detrimental (right) effects on male fertility. A balanced diet, regular moderate physical activity and stress management strategies support sperm function and redox homeostasis.

Olive leaf extract and butylated hydroxytoluene as antioxidants in refined versus whole wheat flour crackers: a physico‐chemical characterization

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 2, Page 1339-1350, 30 January 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND This study investigated the physico‐chemical properties of four cracker samples formulated with refined (RF) or whole wheat flour (WF), and enriched with olive leaf extract in either free form (OLE) or encapsulated form (MCR), as well as with butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) antioxidant, in comparison with non‐enriched control samples

Reproductive and Multigenerational Effects of Dietary Benzo[A]Pyrene Exposure in Zebrafish [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) that is a known carcinogen that also acts as an endocrine disruptor. Multigenerational impacts of PAH exposure are suggested in human cohort studies.
