1,3-Benzodioxol-5-ylmethanol [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2007
The title compound, C8H8O3, is an acid-protecting group used in the synthesis of peptides and as an accelerator in polymerization reactions. Its oxidation product, piperonal (heliotropine), is used in the flavouring and perfume industries. All the non-H atoms, except the O atom of the hydroxyl group, are coplanar (r.m.s. deviation 0.028 A). The crystal

The Regioselective Arylation of 1,3‐Benzodioxoles [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis & Catalysis, 2021
AbstractThe direct arylation of 1,3‐benzodioxole and 2,2‐difluorobenzo[1,3]dioxole with 26 different aryl bromides yields the respective 4‐substitued products in yields of >80% requiring between 0.05–1 mol % Na2PdCl4, 30 mol % pivalic acid, 1.3 equivs. K2CO3 and ca. 250 equivs. of diethylacetamide per Pd at T=120 °C.

1-(1,3-Benzodioxol-5-yl)ethanone [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2010
In the title compound, C(9)H(8)O(3), the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the benzene and dioxole rings is 1.4 (8)°, with the dioxole group in a slightly distorted envelope configuration with the flap C atom displaced by 0.0645 Å from the plane through the other four atoms. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions

First Example of Direct Transformation of Alkylbenzenes to 1,3-Benzodioxoles by Oxidation with o-Chloranil

open access: yesMolecules, 2002
The reaction of alkyl-substituted benzenes with o-chloranil at an elevated temperature was found to give 4,5,6,7-tetrachloro-1,3-benzodioxoles via benzylic oxidation and subsequent acetal formation, albeit in poor yields.

5-(1H-Inden-2-yl)-1,3-benzodioxole [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2008
In the title compound, C(16)H(12)O(2), the non-H atoms are coplanar with a mean r.m.s. deviation of 0.0260 (2) Å. The deviations of the bond angles from normal values at the indenyl junction C atom and the indenyl bridgehead C atom nearest the junction are imposed by the five-membered ring geometry.

6-Hydroxy-2H-1,3-benzodioxole-5-carbaldehyde [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2011
The title compound, C(8)H(6)O(4), crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The benzodioxole ring system is almost planar in each mol-ecule, with maximum deviations of 0.008 (1) and 0.007 (1) Å. The mol-ecular structure is characterized by strong electrostatic intra-molecular O⋯O contacts [2.649 (3) Å] and intra-molecular O-H⋯
