Electrochemical Synthesis of Fluorinated Orthoesters from 1,3‐Benzodioxoles
Invited for this month's cover picture is the group of Professor Siegfried Waldvogel. The cover picture displays the robustness achieved by the installation of fluorinated alcohols on 1,3‐benzodioxoles, protecting the obtained orthoesters against acids ...

The Regioselective Arylation of 1,3‐Benzodioxoles [PDF]
AbstractThe direct arylation of 1,3‐benzodioxole and 2,2‐difluorobenzo[1,3]dioxole with 26 different aryl bromides yields the respective 4‐substitued products in yields of >80% requiring between 0.05–1 mol % Na2PdCl4, 30 mol % pivalic acid, 1.3 equivs. K2CO3 and ca. 250 equivs. of diethylacetamide per Pd at T=120 °C.

1,3-Benzodioxol-5-ylmethanol [PDF]
The title compound, C8H8O3, is an acid-protecting group used in the synthesis of peptides and as an accelerator in polymerization reactions. Its oxidation product, piperonal (heliotropine), is used in the flavouring and perfume industries. All the non-H atoms, except the O atom of the hydroxyl group, are coplanar (r.m.s. deviation 0.028 A). The crystal

The title compound, C7H4O3, is the first cyclic carbonate of an aromatic diol whose structure has been elucidated by means of single-crystal X-ray analysis. The molecule possesses crystallographic twofold rotation symmetry and non-crystallographic C2v symmetry. The C—O single bonds are slightly longer than those in comparable cyclic carbonates derived

1-(1,3-Benzodioxol-5-yl)ethanone [PDF]
In the title compound, C(9)H(8)O(3), the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the benzene and dioxole rings is 1.4 (8)°, with the dioxole group in a slightly distorted envelope configuration with the flap C atom displaced by 0.0645 Å from the plane through the other four atoms. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions
