Unusual Swelling Behavior of Hydrogels Modified with Spiropyran as Appendage or Crosslinker
Not so innocent after all—spiropyran crosslinkers in methylenebisacrylamide‐crosslinked poly(acrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid) hydrogels increase crosslinking density, but also, counterintuitively, increase swelling. Charge complexation, cooperative chemo‐mechanical effects, and aggregation may explain these observations.

Photolytic release of bioactive carboxylic acids from fused pyran conjugates [PDF]
New ester cages bearing the coumarin (2H-benzopyran-2-one) skeleton with extended π-systems as phototriggers, for glycine and β-alanine, as models of carboxylic acid bifunctional molecules with biological relevance, were evaluated under photolysis ...

Homoisoflavanone (HIF), a bioactive compound isolated from Polygonatum kingianum, selectively suppresses colorectal cancer progression by inducing DNA damage‐mediated mitochondrial apoptosis and parthanatos‐like cell death. HIF triggers mitochondrial dysfunction, including depolarized membrane potential, elevated ROS, and ATP depletion, while impairing

Bioactive 4-hydroxycinnamide and bioactivities of Polyalthia cerasoides [PDF]
Constituents from Polyalthia cerasoides, stem bark methanol extract, were previously documented. This study reports the first isolation of bioactive N-(4-hydroxy-β-phenethyl)-4-hydroxycinnamide (1) from ethyl acetate extract of the plant species ...

Benzo-pyrones for reducing and controlling lymphoedema of the limbs. [PDF]
Background Lymphoedema is the accumulation of excess fluid in the body caused by obstruction of the lymphatic drainage mechanisms. Treatment with Benzo-pyrones is thought to reduce fluid forming in the subcutaneous tissues and reduce pain and discomfort ...

Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs) were associated With lower rates of cerebrovascular ischemic events and major bleeding compared With Vitamin K antagonists in non‐valvular atrial fibrillation, With similar mortality. These findings support DOACs as the preferred anticoagulant strategy for stroke prevention in contemporary clinical practice.

A facile and one-pot synthesis of new tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans in water under microwave irradiation
Eleven new tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives were synthesized via a three component reaction of different aromatic aldehydes, methyl cyanoacetate and 1,3-cyclohexadione, with water as solvent under catalyst-free microwave irradiation. The structures of

Photolysis at long wavelengths of amino acid ester derivatives based on 4-methyl-6-methoxy-2-oxo-2H-naphtho[1,2-b]pyrans [PDF]
Ester derivatives of fused 4-methyl-6-methoxy-2-oxo-2H- naphtho[1,2-b]pyran, using valine and phenylalanine as model bifunctional molecules were synthesised, to assess its applicability as a photocleavable protecting group, for solution phase organic ...
