Potential of Chinese Mandarin Peel and Leaf (Agricultural Byproducts) as Candidate Ingredients for Functional Foods and Feeds

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Mandarin peel (with higher contents of the key bioactive compounds hesperidin, nobiletin, and tangeretin) and leaf (with richer chemical diversity) are potential candidate ingredients for functional foods and feeds. The key bioactive compounds (hesperidin, nobiletin, and tangeretin) have optimal conditions for daily consumption, achieved through three ...

Synthesis, Photophysical Characterization, and Anticancer Evaluation of Novel Furochromene Derivatives

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
This is the first study on novel furochromene derivatives. A series of novel furochromen derivatives, namely (2E)‐1‐(6‐hydroxy‐4,7‐dimethoxy‐1‐benzofuran‐5‐yl)‐3‐arylprop‐2‐en‐1‐ones 4a–c, were synthesized via the Knoevenagel condensation of 6‐hydroxy‐4,7‐dimethoxybenzofuran‐5‐ylethanone 2 with various aromatic aldehydes.

Regio- and Diastereoselective Insertion of Allenes into Stable Oxapalladacycles with a Metal-Bonded Stereogenic Carbon. Preparation of Contiguously Substituted 3,4-Dihydro-2H-1-Benzopyrans

open access: yes, 2016
Insertion of monosubstituted allenes into stable oxapalladacycle I was studied. The aim of this work was to define steric and electronic parameters of allenes that would allow for a regio- and diastereoselective synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted 3,4-dihydro-

Toxicity of Compounds Isolated from White Snakeroot () to Adult and Larval Yellow Fever Mosquitoes ()

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2016
Botanicals have been the source for several classes of pesticides for mosquitoes. However, increasing resistance to these products and reduced numbers of choices necessitate the search for new active ingredients. Ageratina altissima (L.) King & H.

Thermally Bistable Stiff Stilbene Photoswitches and Polymer Applications

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 26, Issue 6, June 2026.
Thermally stable photoswitches offer new opportunities for controlling polymer structures and functions under nonequilibrium conditions. This Personal Account highlights stiff stilbene (SS) and sterically hindered stiff stilbene (HSS) photoswitches, which combine large structural changes with exceptional thermal bistability.

A facile and one-pot synthesis of new tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans in water under microwave irradiation

open access: yesBMC Chemistry, 2019
Eleven new tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives were synthesized via a three component reaction of different aromatic aldehydes, methyl cyanoacetate and 1,3-cyclohexadione, with water as solvent under catalyst-free microwave irradiation. The structures of

Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 43, 29 May 2026.
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.

Asymmetric Synthesis of Spirocyclic 2-Benzopyrans for Positron Emission Tomography of σ1 Receptors in the Brain

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2014
Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation of styrene derivative 6 afforded chiral triols (R)-7 and (S)-7, which were cyclized with tosyl chloride in the presence of Bu2SnO to provide 2-benzopyrans (R)-4 and (S)-4 with high regioselectivity.
