Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Facet‐Engineered S‐Scheme Heterostructure With Enhanced Active Sites for Efficient Photocatalytic Degradation of Organic Contaminants

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The facet‐engineered ZnO/Zn3In2S6 heterostructure, dominated by {001} plane coupling, exposes abundant unsaturated Zn sites with elongated Zn─O bonds, directing photoexcited charge carriers along an S‐scheme pathway and suppressing recombination. Enhanced interfacial Zn adsorption toward bisphenol A and methylene blue further synergistically promotes ...

Palladium/Heteropoly Acid Catalyzed Oxidative Coupling of 2-Methoxy-1,4-benzoquinone with Arenes

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2002
Oxidative coupling of 2-methoxy-1,4-benzoquinone and arenes in acetic acid gives methoxyaryl-substituted 1,4-benzoquinones. The reaction is effectively catalyzed by a Pd(OAc)2/heteropoly acid (H9PMo6V6O40 ) redox system with dioxygen as the final oxidant.

Benzoquinonas, hidroquinonas e sesquiterpenos de Auxemma glazioviana Benzoquinones, hydroquinones and sesquiterpenes of Auxemma glazioviana

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2005
Two new compounds, 5 and 8, and an epimeric mixture 4a/4b were isolated from hardwood of Auxemma glazioviana. Their structures and relative configurations were determined by modern spectroscopic analysis to be rel-10alpha,11alpha-epoxy-11beta-ethoxy ...

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Electrodes modified with lipid membranes to study quinone oxidoreductases

open access: yes, 2009
Quinone oxidoreductases are a class of membrane enzymes that catalyse the oxidation or reduction of membrane-bound quinols/quinones. The conversion of quinone/quinol by these enzymes is difficult to study because of the hydrophobic nature of the enzymes ...

Calcium Binding and Transport by Coenzyme Q [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is one of the essential components of the mitochondrial electron-transport chain (ETC) with the primary function to transfer electrons along and protons across the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM).

Tunicate‐Inspired Carboxymethyl Cellulose Hydrogel Filler for Treating Age‐Associated Vocal Fold Atrophy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The pyrogallol‐conjugated carboxymethylcellulose (CMC‐PG) hydrogel is applicated as a filler for the treatment of presbylaryngis, a vocal fold atrophy. CMC‐PG provides a bulking effect to the vocal folds. CMC‐PG is readily injectable and tissue adhesive, enabling sustained release of growth factor over long period.

Novel toxicity-associated metabolic pathways of benzotriazole UV stabilizers by cytochrome P450: mechanism-directed analysis

open access: yesEnvironment International
Benzotriazole UV stabilizers (BZT-UVs) are emerging pollutants with environmental persistence and bioaccumulative risks, yet their metabolic pathways and associated toxicity remain poorly understood.
