Visible Light Photocatalytic Synthesis of Benzothiophenes
Organic Letters, 2012The photocatalytic reaction of o-methylthio-arenediazonium salts with alkynes yields substituted benzothiophenes regioselectively through a radical annulation process. Green light irradiation of eosin Y initiates the photoredox catalysis. The scope of the reaction was investigated by using various substituted diazonium salts and different alkynes.

Benzofuran-/Benzothiophene-Incorporated NIR-Absorbing Triphyrins(2.1.1)
Organic Letters, 2018Novel benzofuran-/benzothiophene-incorporated triphyrins(2.1.1) were synthesized using readily available precursors under mild reaction conditions. The X-ray structure revealed that the benzofuran-incorporated triphyrin(2.1.1) macrocycle was slightly ruffled.
