Novel benzoxazines as inhibitors of angiogenesis

Dysregulation of angiogenesis has been associated with many pathological disorders, including cancer; where angiogenesis has been found to be critical for the maintenance and metastasis of tumours. One of the pathways involved in the regulation of angiogenesis is the phosphatidylinositol3-kinase (PI3K) signalling pathway.

AbstractThe autocatalytic thermal polymerization behavior of three benzoxazine monomers containing carboxylic acid functionalities is reported. Several mixtures of these carboxylic monomers and 3‐phenyl‐3,4‐dihydro‐2H‐1,3‐benzoxazine were prepared and their thermal polymerization behavior was analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry.

The highly enantioselective hydrogenation of 3-aryl-2H-1,4-benzoxazines was achieved using the (cyclooctadiene)iridium chloride dimer/(S)-SegPhos/iodine {[Ir(COD)Cl]2/(S)-SegPhos/I2} system as catalyst with up to 92% ee.

Highly active antimycobacterial derivatives of benzoxazine

New 3-(4-alkylphenyl)-4-thioxo-2H-1,3-benzoxazine-2(3H)-ones and 3-(4-alkylphenyl)-2H-1,3-benzoxazine-2,4(3H)-dithiones were synthesized. The compounds were tested for in vitro antimycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium and two strains of Mycobacterium kansasii.
