Direct photolysis of acetyl benzoyl peroxide and benzoyl peroxide

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1986
The quantum yields were found for the photodissociation of the O-O bond for acyl peroxides (0.12–0.14). In the framework of our assumptions, the increase in ϕ with increasing peroxide concentration may be related to conversion of the triplet excimer.

Contact sensitization to benzoyl peroxide

Contact Dermatitis, 1977
Four formulations of benzoyl peroxide, two 5 % and two 10 % gels, were assayed for contact sensitizing capability by the human maximization test. Seventy‐six per cent became sensitized. Sensitized subjects reacted to all four formulations. Benzoic acid and related compounds failed to elicit an allergic reaction.

Contact sensitization to benzoyl peroxide

Contact Dermatitis, 1981
The incidence of contact allergy to a 5% benzoyl peroxide (BP) gel has been studied by patch testing in 222 patients. Positive allergic reactions to BP were found in 3.1% of cases in a general clinical population (94 patients), whereas 5.8% of 69 patients with eczematous dermatoses were found to be BP‐sensitized.

Meta-analysis comparing efficacy of benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide with salicylic acid, and combination benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin in acne

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 2010
Comparative efficacy of the multiple treatments containing benzoyl peroxide (BPO) and clindamycin (CL) is not established. We compared the efficacy of topical 5% BPO, 1% to 1.2% CL, 5% BPO with salicylic acid (SA) preparation, and combination BPO/CL in acne lesion reduction.A meta-analysis was conducted using the Cochrane collaboration guidelines in ...
