Experimental assessment of large mammal population estimates from airborne thermal videography

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Wildlife resource management requires reliable, fast, and affordable methods of surveying wildlife populations to develop and adaptively adjust policies. Thermal video from drones can yield high rates of detection over large areas with relative speed and safety.

Nesting ecology of an ice‐associated seabird, Kittlitz's murrelet, at the northern edge of its range

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
We studied the Kittlitz's murrelet, an ice‐associated seabird of conservation concern, at the northern edge of its range. Over a 2‐year period, we estimated nest density and success at 2 sites, captured and telemetered nesting murrelets, and tested the use of a thermal camera to improve nest detection.

Real‐World Effectiveness, Treatment Course, and Safety of Tapinarof Cream 1% for Atopic Dermatitis and Plaque Psoriasis in Japan

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Tapinarof cream 1%, a non‐steroidal topical aryl hydrocarbon receptor‐modulating agent, is approved in Japan for atopic dermatitis (AD) and plaque psoriasis. Real‐world data on longitudinal outcomes, treatment continuation, interruption and restart, and adverse‐event timing are limited. Methods This single‐center retrospective study

Summer Chukchi Sea Near-Surface Salinity Variability in Satellite Observations and Ocean Models

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The Chukchi Sea is an open estuary in the southwestern Arctic. Its near-surface salinities are higher than those of the surrounding open Arctic waters due to the key inflow of saltier and warmer Pacific waters through the Bering Strait.

Genomic Investigations Unveil the Genetic Underpinnings of Environmental Adaptation in African Goat Populations

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study integrates genomics and landscape genetics to analyze African goat environmental adaptation. Analyzing 1591 samples, it finds population structure differentiates geographically into four groups, with gene flow between wild Yura goats and North Africans.
