A complete Bernstein function related to the fractal dimension of Pascal's pyramid modulo a prime [PDF]

open access: yes
Let $f_r(x)=\log(1+rx)/\log(1+x)$ for $x>0$. We prove that $f_r$ is a complete Bernstein function for $0\le r\le 1$ and a Stieltjes function for $1\le r$.

The Spherical Bernstein Wavelet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this work we introduce a new bandlimited spherical wavelet: The Bernstein wavelet. It possesses a couple of interesting properties. To be specific, we are able to construct bandlimited wavelets free of oscillations.

Beyond Gut Modulation: A Critical Review of the Therapeutic Potential, Safety, and Clinical Prospects of Natural Polysaccharides for IBD

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
In this review, we critically summarized the application of natural polysaccharides (NPs) for the treatment of IBD. This approach combines, in a unique way (right), the basic structure–activity relationships of NPs from different origins (left) with their multipronged mode of action, which involves modulation of the gut microbiota and other ...

The New Features of Ion Bernstein Wave Heating in JIPP T-IIU Tokamak [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
"Ion Bernstein Wave Heating experiment was conducted in JIPP T-ll U tokamak. A relatively high frequency, 130MHz, was used to reduce impurity influx and IBW power up to 400kW was injected without plasma disruption.

Testing a Relational Model of Workplace Spirituality Across Three Levels: Linking Employee Attitudes and Turnover in a Healthcare Setting

open access: yesHuman Resource Development Quarterly, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A growing body of research demonstrates that purpose and meaning are significant to employee well‐being and organizational performance. Yet, increasing challenges in the workplace, including downsizing, layoffs, and job insecurity, can erode employees' sense of purpose and meaning.

Trigonometric Bézier-based isogeometric engineering analysis for heat conduction in curvilinear ducts

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The Finite Element Method (FEM) is widely used in engineering to solve partial differential equations. Traditional FEM typically employs polygonal elements such as triangles and quadrilaterals for meshing, which are often inadequate for accurately ...

Iterates of Bernstein Type Operators on a Triangle with All Curved Sides

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We consider some Bernstein-type operators as well as their product and Boolean sum for a function defined on a triangle with all curved sides. Using the weakly Picard operators technique and the contraction principle, we study the convergence of the ...

Sense of Coherence in the Perinatal Period: A Longitudinal Growth Mixture Modeling Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Previous studies have established that higher Sense of Coherence (SoC) predicts lower pregnancy‐specific distress, fewer delivery complications, and increased birth satisfaction. However, less is known about how SoC typically changes over pregnancy, birth, and postnatally and the risk factors and protective factors contributing to ...

Role of Depression and Anxiety in Eating Disorder Symptomatology in Higher Levels of Care for Girls With Anorexia Nervosa

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Although the prevalence of affective comorbidities with eating disorders (ED) has been well established, the three‐way relation between ED, depression, and anxiety symptoms has not been explored in an intensive adolescent treatment setting.

An optimization method for solving fractional oscillation equation

open access: yesResults in Physics
This paper seeks to present an optimization method to estimate the solutions of nonlinear oscillation equations of fractional order. The mentioned method is based on Bernstein polynomials (Bps).
