Bernstein–Jacobi-type operators preserving derivatives

open access: yesComputational and Applied Mathematics
AbstractA general frame for Bernstein-type operators that preserve derivatives is given. We introduce Bernstein-type operators based in the weighted classical Jacobi inner product on the interval [0, 1] that extend the well known Bernstein–Durrmeyer operator as well as some other types of Bernstein operators that appear in the literature.

Schrödinger's Cat and Digital Empathy: How Primary School Children Understand and Respond to Others' Feelings in Online Spaces

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Children's digital and physical worlds are increasingly entwined as they build and manage meaningful connections online. Central to this is digital empathy and responsible online conduct, that is, a digital ethics of care. We focus on 10–11‐year‐old children from a primary school in the UK, exploring how they conceptualise and understand the ...

On Bernstein-Schoenberg operator

open access: yes, 2021
In this thesis, we investigate the properties of Bernstein-Schoenberg Operator on general knot sequences and on the q-integers. Also we use this operator to give another proof to some theorems of Bernstein Operator. We give the transformation matrix between spline basis and Bernstein basis.

Rethinking Child Activism: Civil Society Organisations' Practices, Challenges, and Transformative Approaches

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper critically examines how civil society organisations (CSOs), particularly development and humanitarian non‐governmental organisations (NGOs), shape children's and young people's activism as represented in the scholarly literature. Marx's Concept of Life

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract This essay aims to reveal the conceptual unity of an ensemble of concepts of organic, animal, and anthropological life articulated by the young Karl Marx between 1842 and 1844. To lay the groundwork for my analysis, I begin with Marx's general account of “life as activity.” I argue that Marx articulates a hylomorphic theory of organic form in ...

Bernstein-Type Operators

open access: yes, 2016
In this work we are interested in the approximation of some type of operators called Bernstein-type. For this purpose, the operator  ,  0,  n L f x f C  called the Bernstein-type approximation operator is considered. The aim is to use some probabilistic properties to improve and sharp to operator defined above. Also, the rates of convergence as

Amphibian Habits: Freedom, Death, and History in Hegel's Account Of Second Nature

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract Hegel's concept of habit is key to his account of social freedom. But it also appears preclude free reflection on social norms. Recent readers have either minimized this problem or concluded from it that social freedom necessarily implies new forms of unfreedom. This paper aims to avoid the latter conclusion while taking seriously its critical

How Responsive Are Mortgage Lending Conditions to Flood Risk? The Case of the Netherlands

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study the link between flood risk and mortgage lending in the Netherlands, a country where approximately 60% of the population resides in flood‐prone areas. Using over 100,000 securitised mortgages issued from 2013 to 2023, our study concludes that credit terms are indistinguishable between areas with and without flood risk. When we use the

Blending Type Bernstein Operators

open access: yes, 2021
The aim of my thesis is to examine the Bernstein Operators, which are linear positive operators and the properties of the New Generalized Operators. My thesis consists of four parts. The first part is an introduction and gives information about the parts that we will examine in the following chapters.
